Successful candidates must be committed to the academic success of the studentsand be able to support and promote the University's Mission.Responsible for maintaining, inspecting and repairing campus buildings and building systems. Must have general working knowledge of HVAC systems; hot water boilers and heaters; refrigerant systems; building water lines, plumbing, and city water lines; electrical systems and utility lines entering campus; internal and external gas lines; masonry, carpentry, painting, concrete, boilers, outdoor lighting, interior and exterior building structures such as walls, floors, and roofs; and fire notification and suppression systems.Key AccountabilityCampus Building MaintenanceJob DutiesPerform assigned work according to standard procedure. Will use general, working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and carpentry to build, repair or maintain campus buildings. Building maintenance may also include basic cleaning, painting and repair work. Other duties as assigned.Performance StandardsBuilding Maintenance activities must be done with minimal supervision.Capable of prioritizing work orders.Must be able to understand and apply instruction manuals.Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to make calculations such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.Ability to work well with Physical Plant co-workers, other departments and students.Key AccountabilityCampus Grounds MaintenanceJob DutiesPerform assigned work according to standard procedure. Will communicate grounds' issues and / or needs to outsourced groundskeeper staff. Other duties as assigned.Performance StandardsGrounds activities must be done with minimal supervision.Capable of prioritizing work orders.Must be able to understand and apply instruction manuals.Ability to relate to contract workers in a professional manner.Key AccountabilityGeneral SupportJob DutiesSupport campus events and activities. This includes event set-up and tear down for sport's games, summer conferences, student orientation and other events. Other duties as assigned.Performance StandardsMust be capable of prioritizing general maintenance needs with event deadlines.Ability to take direction from other departments, if necessary.Ability to relate to others in a professional manner.QualificationsMinimum Education Level RequiredHigh School Diploma or GEDMinimum Experience Level RequiredOne to three years of related experience.Physical Demands RequiredRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear and use hands to handle and feel objects; lift and / or move up to 50lbs; reach with hands and arms, climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally lift and / or move up to 100lbs; have vision abilities that include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentRegularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, extreme heat, wet and humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; moderate to loud noise level; high, steep, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock.Compliance Responsibilities RequiredRequired to read, interpret and apply policies and procedures in assigned area; document as required by policies and procedures; maintain qualifications and certification and complete annual training as required by the position.OtherRequired to have working knowledge of OSHA safety rules, hand tools, power tools and shop equipment.
