Position: Production Supervisor Location: Buffalo, NY Type: Fulltime, On-site Summary: The production supervisor monitors the manufacturing processes critical to the company's operation.Job Duties: Schedules production and qualifications for their departments Verifies that paperwork for jobs is filled out accurately and completely to meet scrutiny of our customers of the Federal Drug Administration (FDA). Design the room schedule based on demand, constraints, etc. React to change regarding scheduling (change in demand, change in resources, etc.) Responsible for changeover improvement plans, performance tracking Monitor job processes. Fills our paperwork for jobs completely and properly. Manages people; consistent policy deployment (safety, absenteeism, interviewing, termination, operator discipline, systems) Responsible for the training of operators. Handle any quality and/or people issues. Accountable for business metrics (safety, quality, delivery, and cost) Constant communication with the team leads. Responsible for developing Team Leaders, Assistant Team Leaders Hourly timekeeping approval Support lean initiatives and workshops on the plant floor Conduct quality audits Leads walkabout process for their area (visual boards maintained, task trackers, etc.) Maintains a professional demeanor in all situations, setting a positive example. Handles sensitive information and situations with discretion and professionalism. Strictly adheres to company policies and guidelines, promoting a culture of compliance and professionalism Demonstrates company's core values of honesty, integrity, and respect. Other duties as assigned. Monitors daily manufacturing processes for their department to ensure production of received orders. Communicates with Operations Manager to make necessary changes for production of product. Requirements: Safety Responsibilities Supervisors are responsible for making sure that all employees comply with safety rules and regulations. Supervisors have the authority to take corrective action as appropriate. Carrying out safety policy and procedures as directed by the department manager. Promoting and maintaining enthusiasm with respect to safety. Conducting thorough accident investigations and submitting them to appropriate personnel on a timely basis. Conducting periodic safety inspections of their areas. Assuring that employees are provided with and wear proper protective equipment. Participate in Job Hazard Analysis, by identifying and documenting any safety concerns. Participating in safety meetings and providing ideas to improve the safety function. Independent Judgment Ability to react to change in scheduling (change in demand, change in resources, etc.) Ability to make decisions for urgent matters Analysis/Problem Solving Ability to use common sense and knowledge of industry to handle daily questions/issues from production workers, managers, etc. Communication Constant communication with team leads Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with Operations Manager and various levels of management as needed. Skills: Communication and people skills Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Black Belt preferred Leadership Experience with MRP systems Computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Applications, Lotus Notes, and E-mail. Ability to work any shift including 1st and 2nd shifts. Understands regulated type industries - FDA, FAA, ISO Knowledge of medical device manufacturer and supplies knowledge preferred World-class manufacturing knowledge preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university. Engineering degree a plus. Experience: 3-5+ years prior experience managing people, planning, scheduling, working with lot-controlled product and related paperwork (DHRs/Travelers), and implementing lean preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
