Maintenance Mechanic I

DescriptionDeerfield Packaging is looking to employ self-motivated, hardworking individuals to assist with machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance service as well as surface grinding and welding. Qualified applicants will have substantial experience with maintenance and repairs.Job CharacteristicsPerforms preventative maintenance repairs of all machinery and equipmentPreventative maintenance includes, but is not limited to, roll changes for Fenn machines, cleaning and flushing chiller units, etc.Performs surface grinding on a daily basisExamples include top/bottom die grinding, side die grinding, large screw press die grinding, etc.Advanced knowledge of and experience with related maintenance skills such as welding, engine lathes, milling machines or CNC vertical milling machinesExperience working with machinery of equitable complexity is acceptableReads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and serviceFamiliar with lockout/tagout procedures and applications in a factory environmentAssists with mechanic duties such as welding, plumbing, electrical maintenance, etc.Assists with emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipmentParticipate in training new employees when neededRequired SkillsAble to read blueprints and schematics with high degree of accuracyAble to read micrometers, tape measures, and calipers with high degree of accuracyExcellent people skills and interacts well with all levels of employeesHigh degree of technical and mechanical acumenSelf-driven with a close attention to detail in a fast-paced environmentWritten and verbal English communication skillsAble to work with a team to accomplish company goalsStrict attention to safety procedures and guidelines including wearing all personal protective equipment (PPE)Willingness to keep and maintain a clean and safe working environmentAdherence to attendance policyRequired Education/Experience High school diploma or equivalentAt least 5 year of maintenance related experiencePreferred Education/ExperienceExperience working in a tool or manufacturing environmentElectrician, plumber or CAD certificationValid driver's license preferredPhysical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
