VCA South Shore Weymouth Animal Hospital is seeking an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician for processing laboratory tests and maintenance on laboratory equipment to join our team at our busy, 24-hour emergency/referral/multi-specialty and general practice in South Weymouth, Massachusetts. Are you detail orientated, organized and able to muli-task in a fast-paced environment? If so, this is the position for you. Laboratory Technician processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens; reviews and reports lab results; performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment; acts as resource as needed. Lab Technician Duties and Responsibilities: * Receive and prepare samples for laboratory analysis and testing * Process and label samples (blood, urine, fecal, tissue, etc.) * Responsible for performing moderate and high-complexity testing * Working knowledge of laboratory equipment * Familiarity with diagnostic laboratory environment * Record all data and results * Maintain all laboratory equipment * Performs quality control and calibration procedures when indicated and instrument checks * Inventory control to assure adequate supplies; ordering of chemicals and supplies * Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times * Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Docs * Performs other related duties as assigned What Makes VCA South Shore Unique?
