Position Title Mover Overview St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities â— Set up and tear down of university events and conferences including university-sponsored events, all office moves, classroom arrangement and residence room set up including lofting and bunking beds. â— Responsible for the recycling program through distribution of containers, pick up schedules and program implementations. â— Responsible for proper maintenance of all storage rooms including the main chemical storage facility. Must be able to keep accurate records of equipment, furniture and supplies. â— May assist cross-covering regular housekeeping schedules. â— May perform other duties as assigned. Education / Experience A minimum of high school education or GED is required. Knowledge of basic word processing or computer background is an advantage. One to five years directly related experience is desired. Must have a valid New York State driver's license. Competencies / Skills Able to move heavy items safely and without damage to the items. â— Position requires being on feet most of the time â— Heavy lifting is required up to 75 pounds â— Good eyesight â— Requires careful attention to Safety Data Sheets â— Must be able to handle stress when priorities change and or work load increases â— Must have ability to understand diagrams and instructions on various set ups and moves â— Requires valid NYS driver's license and the ability to operate University vehicles (trucks) Supervision of Employees n/a Work Environment Work in all locations on campus with exposure to normal working hazards associated with housekeeping and moving/set up operations. This includes cleaning chemicals, biohazards and bodily fluids. Must be safety conscious at all times. Must observe safety issues when mixing chemicals or lifting heavy items. Equipment to be Used Must be familiar with the operation and maintenance of all custodial service equipment and moving apparatus.
