Job Details Job Location: 8313 - Greensboro, NC Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: Undisclosed Travel Percentage: Negligible Job Shift: Production 2nd shift Description Production Supervisor Description This individual is responsible for supervising production crews in the daily process of producing quality corrugated products in a safe, productive manner with minimum waste. As a supervisor, this individual is responsible for carrying out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions) * Oversee production crews and ensure that they are reliable, dependable, and on-time * Organize, train and direct production crews to obtain the highest efficiency possible * Perform quality checks and facilitate the production of all new item runs; perform random quality checks on all production runs * Inspect and sign off on all new items and items for customers on alert * Determine and expedite work flow * Issue written and/or verbal instructions * Attend daily production meetings * Conduct weekly meetings with Production crews * Examine finished product for exactness, neatness, and conformance to customer specifications * Address questions, concerns, and/or issues expressed by department employees * Make decisions based on normal operating procedures that are well established for the task * Manage and monitor preventative maintenance on all machinery and equipment used; communicate any issues to the department manager and/or maintenance. * Supervise safety of assigned personnel; conduct appropriate safety training and audits * Responsible for staffing and readiness of personnel, including but not limited to, determining pay, evaluation of candidates and employees, hiring, terminations, assigning tasks and directing work flow, time, conflict resolution, team building, and training * Cross train all employees on tasks and processes; establish a backup for each position * Enforce corrective action procedures when applicable and conduct meetings with the violating employees * Submit all appropriate documentation to Human Resources * Establish high morale within the department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems; maintain confidentiality; set an example of superior behavior, attitude, and performance * Improve career skills by enrolling yourself in appropriate training with the approval of the Production Manager * Communicate with supervisors and crews to avoid problems between shift changes * Implement, maintain, support, and follow all established company policies and procedures including the safety program and good housekeeping * Must be trained on Box-Board Products, Inc. Supervisor & Employee Practices for AIB Compliance (a.k.a. Good Manufacturing Practices or G.M.P.'s); must implement, maintain, support, and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.'s) * Manage all processes and procedures related to established tasks; ensure that the necessary tools and materials are available for employees to accomplish tasks; conduct quality audits as necessary * Monitor and assist in managing all departmental goals, efficiencies, performance, and downtimes as established in BBP's Key Performance Indicators * Monitor and assist in managing departmental budget Qualifications Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent required; college and/or technical related experience is preferred * 3-6 years of experience in the corrugated box industry with supervisory experience preferred * Must be able to communicate with supervisor, employees, and coworkers. * Must be able to read and understand measurements using all measuring tools including a tape measure * Must have a sufficient mathematical background to calculate figures and amounts (i.e.-percentages, measurements, volume and rate) * Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel * Must possess a working knowledge of printing plates, cutting dies, and/or ink manufacturing. * Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, or organizations * Must complete BBP forklift certification course and maintain forklift license
