SUMMARYMaintains production equipment and facility in such a way to minimize downtime costs and ensure safety and efficiency. Installs and repairs electrical and mechanical systems. In collaboration with Engineering and Tool Room personnel, develops electrical/electronic systems for mechanical equipment and repairs and maintains production machinery, plant and grounds as required or in accordance with established preventive maintenance procedures. Develops plans to continuously improve the operation and efficiency of the plant. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Performs a variety of duties involved in the development and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment.Maintains safe, secure, neat and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Makes recommendations for improvements.Correctly diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning equipment . Tests repaired equipment to ensure proper working condition.Assists in the installation of new machines and equipment. Ensures maximum production and operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions, and following manufacturer's instructions.Orders with approval, ordinary replacement parts.Repairs, refits or replaces worn or defective parts.Performs a wide variety of routine to complex plant maintenance operations, including building repairs, electrical work and plumbing.Must be available for off shift work when emergency repairs or snow removal are necessary. Establishes components and parts database by entering and backing up data.Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, and reviewing technical publications. Maintains adequate records of maintenance activity, parts inventory, and other pertinent information.Follows all departmental procedures to ensure quality requirements are met.Directs and assists Maintenance personnel with daily tasks.Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics.Assists Maintenance Supervisor in development and implementation of new practices and policies.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience in manufacturing environment a plus. Electrician's license.LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to comprehend and comply with written and verbal procedures, instructions and assignments. Ability to deal with situations involving several variables in standard ad manufacturing conditions. Ability to actively participate in-group problem solving activities.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to correctly perform calculations using basic mathematical skills.REASONING ABILITY Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.Employee is required to follow all safety rules and procedures including, but not limited to, using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). PPE for this position includes safety glasses, hearing protection and hard toed shoes. The following PPE may also be necessary based on the tasks being performed: face shields, gloves (general cloth, nitrile chemical resistant, heat resistant and/or electrical insulating gloves), acid suits, safety harness and/or lanyards.
