Job DescriptionSTATUS: Classified, Non-ExemptHOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday; 3:00pm - 11:30pm Eligible for: Benefits (Health, dental, vision, life insurance, cancer insurance, accident insurance, short-term disability, medical reimbursement), retirement, paid leave **required to pass a POET (post offer employment test - Physical assessment) - fit for duty screening **must be 16 years of age or olderPOSITION SUMMARY: The job of Custodian - Night position was established for the purpose/s of providing custodial services atassigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; performing avariety of special cleaning operations; and preparing facilities for scheduled activities and events.This job reports to Lead Custodian PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Arranges furniture and equipment (e.g. athletic events, plays, concerts, graduations, meetings, etc.) for thepurpose of providing adequate preparations for special events.Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required toperform job functions.Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools,grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.Delivers a variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials tothe appropriate parties within site.Informs students and other site personnel for the purpose of providing information and direction regardingactivities, safety issues and/or proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.Monitors students, staff and visitors in and around assigned building(s) (e.g. halls, multipurpose rooms, lunchroom, restrooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of responding to emergency situations and/or informingappropriate parties.Monitors and adjusts site heating and cooling systems as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of providing acomfortable building environment while conserving energy and complying with District objectives.Performs summer maintenance (e.g. strip/wax floors, moves furniture, painting, etc.) for the purpose of completingand/or facilitating summer construction.Performs a variety of landscaping activities (e.g. mowing grass, trimming grass, cutting weeds, watering, etc.) forthe purpose of maintaining school grounds.Performs minor, job related, maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture and fixtures (e.g. changevacuum cleaner belts, bags, repair desks and tables, change light bulbs, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring properfunctioning and usability of items.Removes snow, ice, sand, debris, etc. - for the purpose of ensuring access and safety. Replenishes classroom and rest room supplies (e.g. paper towels, soap, etc.) for the purpose of ensuringadequate quantities for daily use.Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and/or visitors for the purpose of providing information, takingappropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns (e.g. facility damage, vandalism, alarms, etc.) for thepurpose of taking appropriate action or notifying appropriate personnel for resolution.Secures facilities and grounds (e.g. doors, gates, alarms, lights, etc.) for the purpose of minimizing propertydamage, equipment loss and/or potential liability.Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of thework unit.Working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; providing informationand/or advising others; and operating within a defined budget.There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the Organization's services.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrate understanding of verbal and written communication and ability to speak and write at a level sufficient to perform the duties of the job.Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneouslyHigh degree of motivation, responsibility and confidentialityDemonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and analyzing dataAbility to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environmentHighly collaborative team playerProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.)Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity, make recommendations for improvement, and follow up as necessary to achieve desired resultsIMPORTANT EMPLOYMENT STATEMENTSThe statements above are intended to describe the general nature of the work being performed and are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
