JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction of the Production Manager, plans, assigns, directs and coordinates activities relating to shift operations, including safety, quality, production, and employee relations. Supervises the daily work activities of Production Team Leaders and Production Team Associates. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises Team Leader(s) and Production Team Associates including but not limited to planning, assigning, directing and coordinating their day-to-day activities.Assists the Production Manager in determining and managing appropriate manpower requirements.Trains new and transferred employees on their job duties and responsibilities, and cross trains as necessary.Ensures employees are consistently adhering to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.Tracks and reports daily production; and drives improvements where necessary.Works to improve first run capabilities by identifying repeat offender(s) and developing corrective action.Participates and leads process improvement projects: productivity, quality, ergonomics, etc.Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards and safety rules are consistently adhered to. Collaborates with the Department Manager and Human Resources Manager in the administration of disciplinary action, when necessary.Monitors, maintains and records employees' time related to the Attendance and Time-Off Policies (e.g. vacation, medical day, bereavement, jury duty, etc). Records approved time-off requests in E-Time; and ensures required time-off requests with supporting documentation are processed completely and timely.Provides timely feedback on work performance including but not limited to safety, housekeeping, quality, accuracy, quantity, attendance, punctuality, job knowledge, adaptability, initiative, teamwork, communication, judgment and comprehension. Ensures timely completion of performance reviews based on established schedule.Supports and enforces the principles of Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive manner.Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures./Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with company policies, the Occupational Health & Safety Act. and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.Ensures all employees and visitors have a safe environment in that safety and housekeeping standards are maintained; and all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.Responds to and investigates all reports of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately.Takes an active part in the division's safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division's safety goals. Complete other duties as assigned.Note: If there is reason to believe that any equipment, or physical condition of the workplace is likely to endanger the employee or co-worker, or is in contravention of OSHA and MISOHA, notify management immediately. If there is any reason to believe that any equipment, physical condition of the workplace or assigned task is likely to jeopardize customer's requirements, internal requirements or the quality of tests results and/or equipment build, notify management immediately. Authorities as detailed in our Quality System for ISO/TS16949 2009 including but not limited to Corrective and Preventative Actions, Control of Documents, Control of Records, Internal Audits and Control of Nonconforming Product.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Experience:Minimum of three (3) years of production supervisory experience or a minimum of five (5) years of team leadership experience in an automotive manufacturing facility.JIT experience preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsTeam oriented, communicates well with others, and able to interact with people at all levels and departmentsExcellent problem solving and leadership skillsDetail oriented and excellent documentation skillsWorking knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelinesWorking knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and various manufacturing softwareWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:Work performed in an office and manufacturing plant environments. Normal mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Continuously walks and stands. Frequently performs fine finger movements, grips/grasps, push/pulls, bends/stoops, and lifts and carries parts up to thirty (30) lbs. Must be available to work any shift as well as weekends and holidays as needed.
