Summary AC Transit is currently hiring for a Senior Administrative Clerk in our Health & Welfare and Records department. Under general supervision, this position, performs the most specialized administrative, clerical, and document processing functions for a particular District program or project; and applies comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the specific field required by the unit of assignment. Representative Functions * Performs complex administrative clerical duties directly related to a specialized area such as compliance with specific state regulations, or employee benefits. * Interprets, applies, and explains policies and procedures related to area of specialization; and responds to individuals involved in, or affected by the related services. * Prepares correspondence and supporting documentation; and maintains accurate records and files of program activities. * Responds to public inquiries on the telephone, in writing, and in person; confers with appropriate staff members for additional information when necessary; and acts as an information source when the Manager's input is not required. * Collects information from a variety of documents pertinent to the assigned department or functional area of responsibility; compiles data for reports; and prepares reports as required. * Provides technical information and guidance to other clerical personnel. * Maintains and monitors records and files; follows-up on due dates; and performs other monitoring functions to ensure that responses, changes, reports, and compliance matters are dealt with on a timely basis. * May perform office support duties as necessary to meet target dates and cutoffs, including data entry and reconciliation; as well as typing, proofreading, and editing of correspondence, reports, proposals, and contracts. * May act as interdepartmental liaison related to administrative or project support functions for the department or unit of assignment, and for compliance with District and state regulations and practices relating to those functions. * Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Education: Equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade. Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible clerical experience that included three (3) years in the area of specialization in a related department or unit. May be required to demonstrate proficiency in commonly used word processing and spreadsheet programs at the intermediate level of proficiency. Desirables:Experience with Peoplesoft and Microsoft Suite. Good communication and writing skills is a plus.
