Westlake Dimex has an opening for a Production Supervisor for our Profile & Matting Department. This position is on a 12. hr. rotating shift schedule. During a 28-day cycle, the successful candidate will work 7-day shifts and 7-night shifts. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS * High School Diploma or GED. * Experience managing others as a lead or supervisor, preferably in a manufacturing environment. * Experience in the profile and/or matting areas at Dimex or in a plastics extrusion facility is an added plus. * Comfortable with computer systems and ability to learn new computer responsibilities. SUMMARY This position directly oversees the employees in the Profile and Matting areas and will also have limited supervisor responsibilities over quality and maintenance personnel during the time they are working in the profile/matting areas of the plant. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safety * Support and enforce all safety policies and protocols 100% of the time and address unsafe conditions immediately. * Perform routine safety checks, participate in safety training, and attend weekly safety meetings. * Report close calls, injuries, or property damage and investigate cause as appropriate to situation. Personnel Management * Mentor lead operators in supervisory responsibilities to help them to grow as leaders. * Ensure all lines are ran at expected rates to meet budgeted expectations for Labor and Var. OH. * Overall supervisor responsibility for the employees and responsibility for all payroll, training, scheduling, and performance management functions. * All shift reporting is complete and accurate prior to the end of the shift including timesheets, shift reports, E-Stops. Load sheets, etc. * Personnel related functions for employees on team are completed including scheduling, work assignments, training, performance management, timesheet approval, etc. * Revise and update standard operating procedures as necessary. Quality * Support and enforce all qualities policies and protocols. * Drive continuous improvement. * Ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to meet or exceed all quality specifications. * Research any quality issues to identify cause and implement corrective actions timely. * Identify quality issues and collaboratively work with the Quality Department to determine and drive corrective actions. Production * Support the shift's troubleshooting efforts by leading, advising, and training and getting maintenance and engineering involved at the right time. * Maintain and improve housekeeping expectations and positive shift transitions. * Manage daily workflow for the Profile and Matting Line operations. Communicate issues causing inefficiencies due to personnel or mechanical issues as soon as possible but be able to make on the moment decisions as needed to ensure the highest efficiency as possible for the production lines. * Perform root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies. * Participate in the physical inventory process. Leadership * Takes responsibility for the actions of the entire shift * Discreetly handles personnel issues * Differences in opinion or other issues are properly communicated. * Ensures all operators wear proper PPE * Leads by example in: * Safety (always wears safety glasses, drives fork truck safely, etc.) * Attendance * Reporting * Housekeeping * Quality and Packaging Workmanship Required Behavioral Skills * Clearly convey and receive information with all levels of employees in both verbal and written format. * Leadership skills necessary to properly motivate employees to perform at highest levels possible while maintaining the company's philosophy of safety, quality, productivity, and cost. * Keep pulse on morale of the employees, communicate concerns to appropriate management and follow up with issues as appropriate to create open and collaborative environment with all team members. * Aptitude to provide coaching in a timely manner to help team members strengthen knowledge and skills. * Use interpersonal communication skills to reduce tension/conflict between two or more people; identify issues and facilitate resolution. * Proactive; ability to take prompt action without being prompted to accomplish objectives. * Capable of understanding company initiatives and assist with planning and implementing on site in terms of work processes. * Mechanically inclined, ability to understand how the equipment operates and to foresee maintenance needs. * Must be able to plan, schedule and direct the work of self and others.
