JOB SUMMARY We are seeking a Field Service Technician II who will service Phenix/Doble equipment at world-wide locations. This role will be based in our Accident, MD office reporting to the Service Manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Independent on-site analysis and repair of high voltage, high current test equipment. Troubleshoot system faults on relay, PLC, and microprocessor-controlled equipment. Remove and replace system components to accomplish repair. Modify Programmable Logic Controller programs under the direction of the assign Automation Engineer. Operationally check equipment after repair for serviceability. * On-site Calibration and Preventative Maintenance Service. Use voltage and current supplies, kilovoltmeters, multi-meters, potential transformers, current transformers, and other equipment to calibrate high voltage, high current test equipment. Perform preventative inspection and basic lubrication of equipment. * On-Site Training. Prepare and implement practical, on-equipment training. Answer questions pertaining to operation of equipment while testing customer's test objects. Provide training certificates. * Prepare and deliver quotations for varying customer service quote request. Prepare cost analysis and quotations for custom parts and upgrade requests. Prepare quotations for stock parts and services. * Telephone Support. Communicate with customer to assist with troubleshooting, repair, operation, and maintenance of high voltage, high current test equipment. DECISION-MAKING LATITUDE * The Service Technician is responsible for the direct interaction with the customer. They communicate with customer to know equipment configuration, maintenance status and coordinate final scheduling. * The Service Technician makes the decision on replacing faulty stock components on delivered test equipment. * The Service Technician can make modifications to system after acceptance from Service or Design engineer QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: * Associates Degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent military training. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * 1 - 3 years of related experience * Proper use of electrical test equipment to include oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators. * Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel. * Ability to professionally communicate with customers. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required): * Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers. * Experience with high voltage, high current test equipment * Experience with Partial Discharge Systems. * Familiar and comfortable with international travel. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: * Ability to travel to world-wide locations. * Ability to work independently. Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
