Facilities Grounds Tech (For Current SCC Students ONLY)

Student worker to assist Facilities Department with maintaining landscape and planters on campus. * Students must be enrolled in AT LEAST 6 credit hours to qualify for FWS Program This is a part-time opportunity. Students may work up to 15 hours per week, depending on their unmet need on their FASFA.* IMPORTANT NOTICE: Federal Work Study is federally funded need based aid to assist students with the cost of attending college. Jodie Gammons at Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Care and maintain garden beds and planters on campus * Weed beds and planters on a routine basis * Fertilize, prune, mulch, etc. as needed * Sow grass * Follow Safety Guidelines and Protocols * Being able to work with Multiple Supervisors * Assist with the construction/implementation of future grounds/landscape changes General Qualifications * Student must be punctual and have a knowledge of plants and plant care Required Qualifications * Ability to work independently or as a team * Trustworthy * Interpersonal Skills * Ability to work in outside elements * Ability to use garden tools and equipment (rake, shovel, edger, weed eater) Preferred Qualifications * Horticulture background * Understanding of Grounds Safety Guidelines and Procedures * Understanding of how to use grounds equipment such as tractors, pressure washer, edgers, etc. Physical Demands * Ability to lift up to 50lbs. * Stand for long periods of time * Lift heavy objects * Walk long distances * Bending for long periods * Working in the elements Work Environment * Facilities Department * Main Campus Grounds On Campus at $12.00 per hour.
