HNTB's Resilient Infrastructure Solutions (RIS) team partners with clients to assess their vulnerability to extreme weather events and identify cost-effective solutions to mitigate risk and withstand changing conditions. We help clients navigate the uncertainty of the future through cross-discipline services that prepare, adapt, and respond to change. Our growing RIS team is seeking a creative, organized, and experienced Project Manager eager to work on some of the region's most exciting and transformative transportation projects. This role is pivotal in leading our efforts to deliver resilience improvement plans and innovative resilient projects that capitalize on transformative federal investment in infrastructure and are ready to withstand the complex, rapidly evolving future of transportation. In this role, you will oversee and/or assist the development of climate resilience strategies that prioritize safety and reduce disruption. You will manage and/or perform assessments that interpret and apply climate data to help inform and integrate resilience into our clients' decision-making processes. This position supports resilience projects in the Northeast Division out of HNTB's Boston office, including supporting the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), Massachusetts Bay Transportation Agency (MBTA) and other transportation agencies across the country. What You'll Do: * Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA). * Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client's satisfaction. Assists with client project scoping and contract negotiations. * Performs technical discipline tasks including analysis, reports, design, specification, and production for assigned projects. * Implements the firm's project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives. * Performs coordination with managers on project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews. * Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships, and pursuit efforts for strategic and mini-mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic and mini-mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community. * May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development, and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession. * Performs other duties as assigned. What You'll Need: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience * 2 years task management or Deputy PM experience What You'll Bring: * Experience managing interdisciplinary teams and delivering projects successfully, profitably, and to the client's satisfaction. * Experience coordinating with clients to progress projects and build effective relationships. * Experience completing technical work in areas such as vulnerability/risk assessments, hazard mitigation, infrastructure planning, resilience standards, social equity and environmental justice, nature-based solutions, and/or economic and demographic analyses. * Robust knowledge of the science and maths behind published climate data/maps and projections, including assumptions made in their development, and experience using these data/maps to identify appropriate usage, inform decision-making, and establish limitations. * Ability to review plans and project documents (plans and specifications) for resilience considerations (re: heat, flooding, extreme precipitation, extreme storms, winter weather, and wind) and coordinate considerations across the project team, client, and regulators to communicate resilience and residual risk. * Ability to scope, budget, schedule, and manage projects that produce first-of-a-kind deliverables that are uniquely responsive to the client's values and their capacity to implement. * Excellent oral and written communication skills to support client service management, proposal preparation, and deliverables. Superior communication skills are also expected to guide, coach and mentor junior staff. What We Prefer: * Robust knowledge of civil engineering practices for transportation projects, such as hydrology and open channel hydraulics, bridge design, geotechnical engineering, etc., as well as associated requirements and technical resources/codes that govern these practices. * Awareness of Federal and state (MA, CT, NJ, NY, NH, ME, RI, VT) climate-, emergency management-, and resilience-related laws and regulations, as well as best practice standards and guidance. * Familiarity with on-going research and planning related to climate and resilience by Federal agencies (e.g., FEMA, USACE, NOAA, HUD), State agencies, metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), and other regional or local entities. * Experience in scenario-based planning with consideration for climate projections and effective resilience strategies, ranging from adaptive design, operations, programs, and policies. * Experience or familiarity with the following computer applications: ArcMap/ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, Tableau, Power BI, Python, AWS, and other data processing, visualization, and cloud-based tools. * Professional Engineer (PE) certification, or other certifications (such as RLA, AICP, CFM, and/or PMP).
