Perform troubleshooting, rebuilds and repairs on all types of heavy mining equipment. Supports Site Mechanics with highest level of technical repairs. Maintains service truck for reliability and safety according to DOT standards. Stays current on all certifications necessary to operate truck in areas necessary to support Luck Stone locations. Advises and develops Site Mobile Equipment Mechanics, SME in areas of troubleshooting complex issues, major repairs, Reactive Maintenance and Housekeeping. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 80% of Job: Reactive Maintenance Electrical * Ability to troubleshoot and repair advanced electrical systems and make effective repairs. Viewed as subject matter expert for mobile equipment electrical issues. Use manufacturer specific software to diagnose computer and software issues as it pertains to mobile equipment. Transmissions/Torque Converters * Ability to troubleshoot and repair advanced powertrain system issues on a daily basis. Ability to train others on system operations, testing and repair of minor to advanced powertrain systems. Has the knowledge and ability to rebuild/ repair components as needed. Hydraulics * Ability to troubleshoot, understand hydraulic schematics and repair advanced hydraulic system issues on a daily basis. Ability to train others on system operations, testing and repair of minor to advanced hydraulic systems. Has the knowledge and ability to rebuild/ repair components as needed. Engine * Ability to troubleshoot and repair advanced engine issues using manufacturer software (CAT ET/ JD ServiceAdvisor, ect.). Ability to train others on system operations, testing and repair of minor to advanced engine systems. Has the knowledge and ability to rebuild/ repair components as needed. Machine Systems * Advanced knowledge and ability to diagnose and repair machines systems such as Emissions systems, air conditioning, payload scales and monitoring systems, automatic retarder system and any other system that is provided by the OEM. Ability to train others as necessary. Differential, Final Drives and Brakes * Ability to rebuild brakes, final drives, and differentials, Coach others how to troubleshoot and resolve system issues, analyze failures and determine root cause, skilled in parts reusability guidelines. 10% of Job: Equipment Repair Management Manage equipment and repairs: * Viewed as subject matter expert, Coach others on effectively managing equipment repair process proactively, effectively influence manager to ensure equipment is maintained properly (in a timely manner) Manage Inventory * Seen as subject matter expert, Coaches plant mechanics on what type of inventory is necessary to keep on-hand and what can be ordered when necessary. This will help keep critical parts on site while also keeping costs to a minimum. Constructively communicate with vendors to maintain productive relationship, Leverages experience to anticipate lead times when ordering Utilize Computer Systems * Navigate Dyna-way with ease and confidence, Able to train others on work order management systems as well as CAT VisionLink and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement, consistently utilizes and able to train others on CAT Service Information system (SIS), CAT Electronic Technician (ET) to troubleshoot and diagnose issues as well as oil sample analysis. 10% of Job: Preventative Maintenance & Housekeeping SOP Services * Seen as subject matter expert for analyzing oil sample results and determining cause of contaminants, proactively take appropriate action because of oil sample results. Deep understanding of oil sample results and able to train mechanics on Luck Stone SOP expectations. Wear Items * Advise others on how to plan for and replace G.E.T items. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Diploma or GED Work Experience: * Minimum of 5 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing mobile equipment Expert level skill in systems operation, testing and adjusting of hydraulic, electrical, powertrain and machine systems. * Expert proficiency in Dyna-way, CAT ET, CAT SIS, JD Service Advisor, etc. * Expert proficiency in CAT System Tooling (tachometer, set point indicator, digital micrometer) * Highly proficient in reading electrical and hydraulic schematics. * Understands, stays current and applies all DOT over the road regulations. Technical Competencies: * SME in areas of Equipment Management, Preventative Maintenance, Reactive Maintenance and Housekeeping * Level 5 performance in Mobile Equipment Mechanic Competency Model ENVIRONMENT OR PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS Ability to work under conditions of frequent exposure to dusty conditions and the full range of weather conditions; frequently in, on, and around quarry high walls and pit; extended periods working from elevated positions or in tunnels.
