Salary: $19.80 HourlyLocation : Citrus County, FLJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 24-99Department: Public WorksDivision: Road MaintenanceOpening Date: 07/08/2024Closing Date: ContinuousGeneral Description Citrus County's Road Maintenance Division is hiring a Maintenance Technician that will perform routine and labor-intensive tasks to maintain the County's Road system and will use various construction and maintenance equipment. We are looking for a skilled technician who has experience operating and maintaining equipment used for applying hot mix asphalt patching, operating a vacuum truck, and has a CDL Class A with N combination air brakes.Working for the Road Maintenance Division you will have a direct impact in providing reliable, accessible, and well-maintained roadways that enhance the quality of life for all residents and visitors. Please find our benefits information on the next tab.Please note: The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM. The hourly wage is $19.04 per hour. Essential Functions Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.Acts as a crew leader/lead worker of a small crew operating the asphalt truck, repairing roads with asphalt including, but not limited to, potholes, edge breakup, sinkholes, and driveways. Operates vacuum truck and backhoe as needed.Performs routine and labor-intensive tasks for area of responsibility.Inspects area of responsibility on a regular basis for deterioration, damages, or operational problems.Performs repairs, replacement and/or maintenance for area of responsibility.Maintains record of tasks performed daily, and other reports and records as required.Operates and uses a variety of hand tools, power tools and construction vehicles, tractors, other equipment.Builds drainage culverts and other structures, installs flumes and swales, lays pipe and lays brick, and repairs guardrail.Maintains equipment and records servicing of same.Responds to after hours' emergency call outs as needed.Assists with disaster preparedness and emergency response in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency event.Performs other duties as required. Minimum Requirements Education, Training, and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent or specialized vocational training.Extensive training in the operation and routine maintenance of equipment used for applying hot mix asphalt patching and vacuum truck. Certificates, Licenses, Registration, SkillsFlorida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class "A" with "N" combination air brakes.Must have or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification.Ability to use effectively standard maintenance equipment and hand tools.Ability to work after normal business hours (includes nights and weekend) to respond to emergencies.Must have sufficient physical strength, agility, and stamina to perform assigned tasks under adverse conditions.Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); andIS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management SystemPhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentRequires standing and walking most of the day.The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.The job requires frequent bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, balancing, twisting, and occasional reaching above shoulders.The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, operating foot controls/levers, and driving automotive equipment.The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.The job may risk exposure to adverse weather, moving machinery, fumes and gases, electrical hazards, unprotected heights, and extreme noise.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Emergency Response/Recovery ActivitiesAll employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency.
