The Transportation Department at Cornell University is searching for a hardworking and motivated individual to join their team as a Transportation Services Representative! In this role you will act as university representative in disseminating information concerning parking and traffic to the university community and visitors. Provide services and conduct transactions that ensure the effective and efficient enforcement of parking policies, and the circulation of traffic on the Ithaca campus. Act as dispatcher for the department rotating with other TSR 02 positions. Be an ambassador for the department providing clear, accurate and succinct information and instructions to all customers appropriate to their needs. This is a union position within the International Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America's bargaining unit (SPFPA). The starting pay rate is $22.82/hour. Facilities and Campus Services employees are required to attend staff development trainings and participate in the performance evaluation process. We require these qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Must have and maintain a valid US driver's license; will be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites. * Ability to drive a License Plate Recognition Equipped vehicle in all weather conditions of central New York State. * One-year previous transportation or customer service experience. * Ability to traverse campus by foot, bicycle, and/or car and have the ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. * Must have the ability to carry hand-held tablet, printer and two-way radio (approximately 10 lbs. of equipment). * Ability to be exposed to inclement weather including rain, snow, hot, and cold temperatures. * Possess the visual acuity to read permits through windshield and operate the hand-held computer. * Knowledge of data entry and ability to work in desktop computer applications. * Possess excellent verbal communication skills. * Possess good writing skills for date entry and customer communications. * A proven ability to listen to customers and interpret customer needs. * A proven ability to assess conflict situations and diffuse upset customers. * The ability to make routine decisions using sound judgment and discretion in carrying out duties. * The ability to work independently and as a team and work closely with all other staff in a cooperative and positive manner. * This position requires reliability, attention to details, and high organizational skills. * Must have the ability to utilize time effectively and work steadily and conscientiously. * Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. * Ability to handle multiple phone lines in a deliberate and calm manner. * Motivation to achieve favorable outcomes for the organization beyond minimum work expectations.
