The Deckhand monitors deck areas onboard the vessel, as well as passengers, to ensure safety during vessel operation. Deckhands handle lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat and perform custodial and/or general maintenance tasks as directed. Deckhand provides a high level of customer service to all riders. Our crew may be required to report to multiple locations including Brooklyn, Manhattan, and NJ.PayDeckhands $18-19/ hrSenior Deckhands $21/ hrLicensed Mate $25/ hrEssential Duties & Responsibilities:Handle mooring lines to dock or undock the vesselResponsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, and bridge operations in all weather conditionsPerform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other vessels and monitoring the waterway for potentially unsafe conditionsAssist in boarding and disembarking of passengersAssist with filling water, bunkering fuel, unloading black water, connecting and disconnecting shore power as directedPerform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance and construction tasks as assigned and minor engineering repairs and rounds as directedSeek the highest levels of quality and professionalismMaintain passenger countWork to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivityAssist with training of crew as directedSeek continuous improvementAssist the Captain in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulationsAssist the Captain in ensuring the vessel is in an inspection-ready condition at all timesMonitor passenger & crew member safety issues on the boat.
