Your goal is to enhance yields, improve fruit quality, reduce risk, and improve crop estimation/forecasting accuracy. As part of the National Grape Co-operative viticulture team you will meet with growers/owners, make viticulture recommendations, assist in fruit receiving activities, and grower communications.Where You'll WorkThis role is on site at the National Grape Co-operative office in Westfield, NY. You will also travel throughout the Lake Erie and Finger Lakes regions of New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio visiting grower-owners on their farms and attending industry events.What You'll Do:Work with existing and seek out new technologies (Precision Agriculture, AI, Communications, etc.) that focus on sustainability, traceability, crop estimation, crop forecasting, and communications. Promote cost-effective, environmentally sound viticultural programs for nutrition, pest management, and crop estimation. Assist in pre-harvest and harvest activities as a member of National's Harvest Team. Understand and enforce National policies and procedures. Assist with timely and accurate member Marketing Agreement revisions, including GIS vineyard Map revision. Assist the Viticulture Team in developing and evaluating research proposals to address grower/owner needs and areas of improvement. Build effective working relationships with grower/owners and industry stakeholders. Enhance member communication through the National Grape website and other technologiesWho You Are:Proficient interpersonal skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Comfortable presenting to small and large groups.Working one-on-one with growers. Continuous improvement mindset with desire to improve professional skills and business activities. Self-motivated and results drivenCapability of leading self and leading others, assume leadership rolesWorking knowledge of agronomic/viticultural principles and practicesUnderstanding of pesticide regulations and principles. Knowledge/understanding of Precision Ag and/or Ag AI technologies. Ability to work through challenging situations and resolve conflict quickly and effectively. Makes decisions that positively impact the current and future state of the cooperative. Works relentlessly to overachieve, anticipate obstacles, and creates plans to overcome them. Sets stretch goals and plans to achieve them. Engages in healthy dialogue and makes decisions with cooperatives best interest in mind. Willing to work outside in varying weather conditions.Willing to work extended hours during harvest operations.What You'll Need:Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or other related degree- strongly preferred.3+ years of experience in Viticulture/Agriculture/Precision Ag- strongly preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Experience with: Access, SharePoint, Publisher, ArcGIS- not required, considered a plus.Private or Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification in NY or PA (or ability to obtain).Validate Driver's license.An equivalent combination of education and experience that proves competence in role may be considered.At Welch's we value diversity, a passion for what you do, and a commitment to continuous learning.
