Overview: This position will be responsible for supervising and directing employees in the safe and efficient production of a quality product in a cost-effective manner that meets customer expectations. Specifically, this position will be responsible for all production supporting activities on shift to ensure that optimum performance levels are achieved in the areas of safety, quality and productivity in accordance with management guidelines while creating and developing a team environment. Responsibilities: * Provide leadership and direction to production personnel. * Understand, demonstrate, and hold others accountable to Synthomer Core Values, policies, procedures and safe work practices. * Document, respond to and provide details all Safety issues. Respond to alarms and notifications of hazards to provide a safe work environment. * Lead daily safety and production meetings reviewing key measures for performance. Define production expectation to deliver customer needs while holding team accountable to completing defined objectives. * Conduct plant walkthroughs, routines, inspections, and assessment of safe work practices; provide coaching, and counseling to employees to assure safe work and execution of production plan. * Responsible for regular reporting of performance within reporting systems, shift logs, downtime tracking, etc. * Collaborate on and execute daily production schedule, optimize productivity, address daily bottlenecks, and rectify daily quality and processing problems. * Monitor and recommend changes to operating processes and procedures and initiate training as needed * Support continuous improvement objectives, measurement and sustainability and promote active participation amongst production staff * Know the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) language and work within the language * Administrative duties include but are not limited to: * Final reviewer/approver of timecards, overtime equalization, and vacation requests as per CBA guidelines Qualifications: * Minimum education required is a high school diploma/GED plus relevant experience; Associate's degree in a related field * 2 years of experience in a complex manufacturing environment * 1 year of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment * Exceptional demonstrated leadership skills required * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills * Must be able to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills * Must be able to be flexible and lead others through change * Works well independently and in team environment * Strong PC skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP) * Ability to motivate and coach employees * Ability to hold employees accountable * Willing to work off shifts and provide weekend coverage. * Overtime is mandatory if shift is scheduled on weekends or coverage is needed for sick time or vacation of other Supervisors Preferred Qualifications: * Lean Six Sigma Experience * Experience and/or training in Change Management * Management in a union environment Why Synthomer?
