Title: Project Manager Position Type: Staffing Location: Richmond, VA Reports to: Director Status: Exempt Job Summary: PIC Group has a great opportunity for Project Manager to oversee and provide leadership for the pilot plant project in Richmond, VA. The Project Manager reports directly to the Director and will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery within set requirements, timelines, and budgets. This role demands strategic thinking, strong leadership, and expertise in managing large-scale projects within the power generation or industrial gas sectors. The ideal candidate will excel in project planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, and navigating complex regulatory environments, all while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering programs or projects from the conceptual stages through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, start-up, performance testing, initial operations, turnover to operations, and prime contract close-out. * Develops working relationships and facilitates communication of project health and status with project teams, stakeholders, sponsors, customer representatives, and senior level management. * Prepares and participates in risk, project baseline budget, and overall program. Works with program or project leadership to develop and execute mitigation strategies. * Oversees the development of an integrated schedule including critical path for the end-to-end tasks and activities necessary to successfully implement the program or project and ensures resources and dependencies are identified. * Provides guidance on tracking and reporting methods and tools as well as working with project teams on implementation of recovery plans as necessary. * Leads others through all phases of assigned programs or projects by utilizing methodologies, systems, tools and quality standards as defined by the company in developing project plans and deliverables that meet identified requirements. * Provides feedback and performance assessments to appropriate management in a timely manner and addresses and helps resolve conflict among project team members. * Monitors, tracks, and controls change to the projects through formal change control management of requirements, configuration, performance measures, cost, schedule, and project organization structure. * Conducts internal staff meetings to disseminate appropriate company and project information. * Ensures that all staff is informed of needed information, policies, and expectations regarding the execution of the project, specifically as it pertains to safety, quality, and related regulations. * Participates in the mentorship and development of individual team members. Job Requirements: * Ability to lead, coordinate, and manage a project with multiple entities and subcontractors. * Excellent communication, leadership, motivational and teamwork skills required. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. * Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. * Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. * Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. * Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. * Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. * Knowledge of computer-aided design, database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc. Physical Requirements: * Regularly required to stand and walk. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Hearing protection may be recommended and/or required in some areas. * Travel is required, including on occasion to construction sites and working out of construction temporary offices. Education / Experience: * Bachelor's degree (BS) in Engineering or similar technical field from four-year college or university * 10+ years related experience in managing large power generation or industrial gas projects. * PMP certification is preferred PIC Group, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
