Job Title:Pre-K Floating Support Staff Grade Level/Terms of Employment:Part-Time, $15/hourFLSA Status:Non-ExemptWork Location:Mary Scott PreschoolImmediate Supervisor:School PrincipalHours: 9:00am - 2:00pmGeneral Description:The Pre-K Floating Support Staff will supervise and engage with groups of preschool-age children during mealtimes, nap time, teacher planning time, and other designated times during the day as needed. Supervision is needed between 10:30-2:30 daily with the opportunity for flexible scheduling within this timeframe (i.e. 10:30-12:30, 12:30-2:30, etc).Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Assist in maintaining a safe, clean and fun environment for young childrenSupervise students and ensure student safety and well-beingInteract with students in a manner which is appropriate to their developmental level, being fair, consistent and professional at all timesAssist with regular classroom and lunchroom routines and organization; Provide supervision during meal and nap times, set-up and pick-up of cots, distribution and clean-up of meals, etc.Assist with classroom and lunchroom sanitation procedures (disinfecting tables, and toys, picking up trays and silverware, helping children pick up spilled food and trash, etc.)Assist students with needs that may arise such as opening milk cartons and thermos bottles; Encourages good table manners Supervise children as they transition from one activity or location to another in the classroom, cafeteria, multi-purpose room, hallway, restroom, playground Escort children to the restroom, assist with toileting and hand washing routines as necessaryAssist with safe student dismissal procedures established by the schoolProvide supervision and support children as they transition between the regular school day and the aftercare programReport all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal or designeeQualifications:Experience working with young children in a childcare or school setting preferredHigh school diploma or GED requiredAttentiveness to the needs and safety of young childrenCaring and compassionate attitude when interacting with and caring for young childrenAbility to work cooperatively and productively with other employees, students, staff and others contacted in a fast-paced, customer service-oriented workplace Ability to supervise children in an orderly and consistent manner following guidelines supplied by the principal or designee Must be able to follow oral and written directions and have the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with preschool age children and othersCPR/AED Certification appropriate to age group highly desirableFirst Aid Certification highly desirable
