* The plant engineering technician works closely with plant engineering personnel in support of improved regulatory programs and process reliability as well as efficient and cost-effective use of plant resources. This position requires the incumbent to prioritize, plan/schedule work and organize multiple activities with minimal supervision and direction. A solid background in mechanical and electrical systems as well as training in regulatory programs is crucial to the success of the plant engineering technician. The ability to learn and effectively use various software programs including AutoCAD and the company's EAMS system is required. This position develops, plans and improves the preventive maintenance tasks for equipment and regulatory programs throughout the plant. * Technician need to be will be able to complete regulatory inspections and prepare reports for review and signature by the designated person for the facility. The technician will be involved with writing regulatory audit reports. * In addition, the plant engineering technician reviews existing preventive maintenance tasks. The technician adds, improves, changes the frequency of, or deletes task instructions as needed to increase the overall effectiveness of the preventive maintenance & regulatory inspection program. The technician enters this information into the company's Enterprise Asset Management System software (EAMS). The technician utilizes equipment history from the company's EAMS, manufacturer's recommendations, and operator input when reviewing the value of existing tasks and timely completion. * Apply industrial maintenance skills and knowledge to plan, install, maintain, and repair plant systems and equipment. * Trains industrial maintenance technicians on plant environmental and reliability procedures. * For example, the plant engineering technician will coach and mentor industrial maintenance technicians in the area of troubleshooting and reliability of plant assets. The plant engineering technician will be looked upon as a subject matter expert in areas of plant production equipment. * Must be capable of using power and hand tools. Must be able to use measurement equipment (calipers, seaming micrometer, flowmeters, etc), and advanced condition monitoring equipment (vibration analyzer, infrared camera, etc) in an industrial environment. * Develops new predictive maintenance tasks. * For example, the technician writes the instructions required to perform the condition monitoring task, and assists with the training of the individuals that will perform the tasks. The technician summarizes the data collected from the condition monitoring tasks and makes recommendations for equipment and process improvement based on the data collected. Must be capable of using small hand tools. Must be able to use measurement equipment (calipers, flowmeters, etc), and advanced condition monitoring equipment (vibration analyzer, infrared camera, etc) in an industrial environment. Must have basic computer skills and be able to fully utilize our EAMS software. This position requires some physical exertion including the need to climb ladders and lift up to 25 pounds. At least 30% of the technician's time will be spent outside the office area. The technician will be required to be trained in confined space entry and lock-out/tag-out. The position will be utilized in a minor role to relieve Maintenance Supervisors as a stretch assignment.
