Advertised Position Title: Journeyman Maintenance Specialist (Electrician) Job Description: Essential Functions: * Determines type and amount of materials to be used on assignment and how best to * perform work required. * Perform assigned maintenance and repair tasks in a professional and dependable manner following safe work practices and in accordance with national and local codes in the performance of all duties. * Performs light carpentry work such as building wood or metal stud walls, installing drywall, insulation, acoustical tiles. * Performs light electrical tasks such as outlets, switches and light bulb replacement. * Performs masonry tasks such as laying brick and cement block for new construction or repair of existing structures. Form, pour and finish concrete. Mix mortar and similar compounds for patching and repair. * Perform minor HVAC tasks such as filter replacement. Check system status on web control system. * Able to operate heavy equipment such as dump trucks and loaders as well as small equipment such as garden tractors. * Perform preventive maintenance task such as caulking, weather stripping, lubricating and painting. * Set up for special events as needed. * Maintain and safely operation power equipment such as saws, drills and other power tools. * Perform seasonal duties such as snow removal, salt, summer mowing, etc. * Can operate as the lead employee of a team working with other Maintenance Specialists. May occasionally supervise student workers. * Perform specialized electrical tasks such as conduit installation, design and calculate circuit loads and install new circuitry for both high and low voltage devices. Troubleshoot and repair existing equipment and circuitry such as H.I.D. light fixtures, kitchen equipment, switch gear, contractors, etc. * Will perform setup and teardown of various events as needed. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Knowledge of building maintenance operation Capability and experience to operate small equipment and large equipment Supervisory experience helpful. * Ability to bend and install conduit professionally. * Ability to drive and operate heavy equipment. * Ability to operate and maintain handheld power equipment and tools. * Ability to determine conduit size, raceway size, breaker size, etc. for a given piece of equipment to be connected in a given place. * Supervisor experience helpful. * Ability to organize and prioritize projects. * Ability to troubleshoot miscellaneous projects as they appear. * Ability to make decisions and implement solutions. * Personable. * Ability to communicate with others. * Ability to work with and around others. Minimum Qualifications: * Minimum of 4 year's experience in building maintenance. * Up to four years of specialized or technical training beyond high school in electrical field.
