JOB SUMMARYThe Supervisor, Production Maintenance is responsible for electrical and mechanical servicing and efficient maintenance of production machinery and equipment and tooling. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining plans for corrective, predictive and preventative maintenance of production machinery and equipment. Supervision of workers engaged in equipment maintenance, electrical and mechanical operations including outside vendors.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSEnsures the safe condition and proper maintenance of all equipment within the Manufacturing area.Establishes and maintains an effective plan for corrective, predictive and preventive maintenance of production machinery and equipment.Develops and maintains labor routers.Develops and maintains the fundamental standards utilized by the production capacity plan.Ensures inventories of maintenance materials, supplies and replacement parts are maintained at proper levels by initiating requisitions for purchases consistent with budgetary constraints.Originates requests and provides detailed specifications on all maintenance materials and parts required for production machinery and equipment.In conjunction with other departments, reviews proposed new products from manufacturing method/assembly and cost perspectives. Provides financial analysis of labor content and equipment considerations, when required.Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.Schedules repair, maintenance and installation of machines or equipment to ensure continuous production operations.Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in the maintenance, electrical and mechanical operations.Recommends, plans, and implements equipment needs to improve production efficiency and/or cost reduction procedures.Develops manpower plans and reviews routers, as required.Directly manages the contractors and trades involved in maintenance projects and completes projects in the scheduled time and consistent with budgetary constraints.Stays abreast of new regulations regarding Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and OSHA regulations and assures compliance to all such regulations.Assures that all direct reports are thoroughly trained in all GMP, SOP and OSHA regulations pertaining to manufacturing and maintenance and provides necessary documentation pertaining to such training.Proactively monitors safety issues and addresses them appropriately. Investigates all departmental accidents and provides written root cause analysis that includes a required written action plan to prevent similar, future accidents. Documents the implementation of all such action plans.Provides primary input to the Manager, Production Maintenance in the formulation of short- and long-range operating budgets and other objectives dealing with production machinery and equipment (which is under the responsibility of the Manufacturing Department) and ensures adherence to these budgets, when approved.Develops, implements, and reviews maintenance logs and repair records for production machinery and other equipment, which tracks activities from internal and external resources.Provides a summary and recommendations on observations to the Manager, Production Maintenance. Recommends plans and implements projects that will improve efficiency, reduce costs or scrap, and improves procedures.Strong leadership skills are essential.Exercises administrative control over the personnel assigned to the position (e.g., daily scheduling, training, departmental orientation, etc.).Through individual guidance, mentors, and coaches Production Maintenance personnel (Production Mechanics) to grow in their positions, develops their skills and future potential and maintains a high level of knowledge in computer system technology.Takes affirmative action in all conditions of employment to ensure that equal opportunity efforts and results are consistent with Company policies and procedures.Strengthens the Manufacturing Department by contributing innovative ideas, expertise, knowledge, high professional standards, Team spirit and pride in the Company.Keeps abreast of current trends, practices and developments in Manufacturing and makes recommendations for implementation.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains all records, manuals and blueprints relating to production machinery and equipment.Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities, as may be required by the manager, Production Maintenance.Supports the Winner's Circle and ISO processes.Assists other functional areas with Manufacturing in a supervisory capacity during periods of short staffing or emergencies.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSA 4-year college degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related discipline; or its equivalent in training and experience is required.The knowledge and skills required for this position are typically acquired in 5 to 6 years of experience with high-speed production equipment integration and maintenance. Management experience is also essential for this individual.The position requires knowledge of electricity, electronics, and mechanical engineering, as applied within a high-speed consumer packaging/filling equipment environment.Knowledge of and direct experience in work management and work measurement systems and/or experience in developing work standards.Auto-CAD experience is desirable.Considerable interpersonal skills are required to interact with the personnel situations arising. The need to persuade and sell in the liaison role with Management personnel requires a high degree of human relations skills.Considerable management skills are required to successfully perform the planning, directing, reporting and administrative responsibilities of this position, in conjunction with the Manager, Production Maintenance.A comprehensive knowledge of the general direction of the Manufacturing industry and technology (evolving products, services, etc.) is required in this position.A broad understanding of general Manufacturing maintenance and management practices.An understanding of PLCs (preferably Allen Bradley), vision systems, and associated electronic equipment.Strong leadership skills.Good organization ability and project management skills.Good math aptitude.High degree of familiarity with and ability to use office machines.Computer literate in a Windows environment (Word and Excel and some form of Project Management software and Maintenance Management software required; Access and Adage beneficial).Willingness to accept other duties, as assigned.Must be detail minded.Must possess the ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, function as a team player, accept constructive criticism from management and comply with Company policies.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThe following positions report to the Supervisor, Production Maintenance:Group Leader, Production MechanicsProduction MechanicsPHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENTThis position requires the individual to Stand or Walk up to 33% of the time. This position requires the individual to Sit, Talk or Hear, and use hands to Finger, Handle or Feel 66 to 100% of the time. This position requires the individual to reach with hands and arms 33 to 66% of the time.This position will require the individual to lift up to 10 pounds 33 to 66% of the time.The vision requirements for this position includes close vision of 20 inches or less; distance vision of 20 feet or more, color vision (ability to distinguish between colors), peripheral vision (ability to see up, down, left, right while eyes are fixed on a given point), depth perception (3 dimensional vision), and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).This position has no exposer to measurable environmental hazards or conditions.The noise level for this position will Be Moderate Noise (Ex: Business office equipment, computer printers, production machinery, light traffic).
