This position is responsible for inspection of electrical and mechanical equipment, troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment, repair and upgrade of mechanical and hydraulic equipment, piping, and, as assigned, repair and upgrade of electrical equipment. What do we expect from you as a Maintenance Technician? * High School Diploma or GED required * General Electrical training and experience * Associated Science (A.S.) degree in a Technical related program preferred * 3 years' experience electrical systems, inspections, troubleshooting on AC and DC systems. * 3 years' experience in working with electrical voltages up to 480 Volts (Required) * Knowledge of electrical codes, voltage, current (AC & DC), and power levels * Experience working with single three phase electrical systems, power distribution systems, conduit and raceway installations (Required) * 3 years' experience in Instrumentation & Electrical industry (Required) * Experience with calibrating or adjusting various types of tank gauges, motor operated valves and control systems. * Experience and or knowledge with rotating equipment; but not limited to, hydraulic systems, pumps and compressor units * Ability to read, understand and follow manufacturers equipment manuals * Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; ability to work with fractions and perform various mathematical conversions commonly used in petrochemical industry * 3 years' experience in Mechanical/Construction industry (Preferred) * Good computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite * 3 years hands on experience in Mechanical Maintenance of Rotary equipment in Oil/Gas/Petrochemical Industry. Includes preventive, corrective and shutdown maintenance. * Must have completed, at a minimum, one hands-on pump repair course (Preferred) * Experience in terminal operations preferred but not required * Good communications skills; fluent in English including reading, writing and speaking; ability to read and write at a minimum of high school level; ability to clearly communicate to all levels in organization * Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions and directions * Ability to read, interpret and follow equipment operations/maintenance manuals * Ability to read and understand safety procedures, including OSHA standards and regulations * Computer knowledge and user ability including database systems and other programs and applications used at location * Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow through on assignments * Experience and or knowledge with rotating equipment; but not limited to, hydraulic systems, pumps and compressor units * Knowledge of tank and piping standards * Experience operating various forklifts and man-lifts. * Must possess valid state Driver's License What does your day look like? Your core responsibilities are: * Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of SH&E principles and values; champions safety as necessary * Demonstrates knowledge of electrical circuits, single and three phase electrical systems, electrical codes, voltage and currents * Handles instrumentation and electrical work as assigned * Repairs, troubleshoots, upgrades, and calibrates various equipment and devices used by Company * Assumes the delegated responsibilities of Maintenance Foreman in his or her absence * Acts as team leader to other technicians as required, assists team members as appropriate * Performs preventative maintenance on equipment * Execute repair work such as mechanical seal replacement, bearing replacement and alignments including overhauling on all types of pumps. * Monitor quality of maintenance tasks carried out by contractors against approved standards. * Performs other duties assigned by management that fall within the generally expected scope of this position * Stays current on various tank and piping standards for mechanical equipment used * Handles cost estimations; contacts vendors; purchases equipment and materials * Coordinates and schedules repairs and projects with operations and contractor personnel * Establishes and maintaining file system on repairs and equipment * Stocks inventory of various parts required * Handles general housekeeping in work area * Responds to operational needs as assigned Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Most extreme elements are heat in the summer months of up to 100°+ and some exposure to cold of generally no less than 0° in the winter months. There will be exposure to various chemicals and compounds, including fumes and smells, some of them hazardous. The employee will enter confined spaces and work in elevated environments, potentially for lengthy periods of time. Employee must be able to wear PPE required by the location. Loud sounds and vibrations will be experienced at times. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All environments are safe with appropriate PPE. Must be free of illegal substances and should at no time be under the influence; prescriptions that may affect work performance must be reported. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk (sometimes over long distances and carrying tools weighing up to 15 pounds), crawl, sit, speak, and hear. The employee is required, for extended periods of time, to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee will be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; must be able to twist around repeatedly. The employee will be required to climb ladders and storage tanks up to 50' in height. The employee will be required to enter confined spaces and crawl under rail cars or trucks. The employee will lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds including overhead; must be able to carry up to 25 pounds over a distance of up to 30 yards. The employee must be able to roll and tip dolly holding 55 gallon trash receptacle. Must be able lift and secure hose flanges; align and connect/disconnect 6" to 8" hoses manually. Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
