The Role The Maintenance Technician II performs advanced maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing mechanical and electrical systems, conducting preventive maintenance, and ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely. This role requires a strong understanding of technical schematics, the ability to work independently, and excellent problem-solving skills to address complex maintenance issues promptly. Essential Work Duties * Perform skilled work in the maintenance, construction, inspection and repairs of building and equipment. * Perform maintenance tasks in electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry. * Work cooperatively with other departments to achieve and maintain a strong customer service environment. * Must always act in a manner that is in the best interest of the agency. * Troubleshoot problems in building and equipment and effect repairs. * Maintain inventories. * Keep complete and accurate records of repairs and equipment. * Help in preparing the physical arrangement of special activities. Responsibilities * Perform skilled work in installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair of mechanical, electrical, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing, and appliance repair. * Responsible for completing work orders for tasks related to the physical maintenance and repairs of the assigned buildings using work order software. * Conducts routine inspections of all agency-occupied properties. * Responsible for implementing routine physical improvements. * Respond to emergencies following departmental protocols. * Assist supervisor in establishing and maintaining all equipment, tools, supplies, inventories, and logs. * Implement, with the supervisor, a comprehensive preventative maintenance plan and maintain all related records and logs. * Assist with controlling expenses associated with the operations of the buildings. * Communicate effectively to appropriate individual building status and changes. * Adhere to all safety standards, policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and best practices. * Utilize materials, supplies, tools, and other building property safely and productively. * Perform other duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications * Four years of skilled experience in one or more of the following trades: electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and roofing. * A high school graduate or GED is required. * Technical school in maintenance-related courses is preferred. * The ability to understand and interpret design documents, manufacturers specifications, and written operational procedures. * Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure positive communication with the team, clients, other staff, and stakeholders. * Be able to take directions and follow instructions. * Must be safety conscious. * The ability to organize and prioritize tasks and ensure accuracy and timely completion of assigned work. * Twenty-four-hour availability for emergencies and as part of an on-call rotation. * Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, stand, sit, push, pull, and lift heavy objects at least 50lb and up to 100lb occasionally. * Willingness to work overtime on special projects as required. * Must have a valid drivers license, safe driving record, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation. * Have a working knowledge of tools and their proper use. Physical Requirements Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, stand, sit, push, pull, and lift heavy objects at least 50lb and up to 100lb occasionally.
