The Transportation Mechanic is responsible for keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventative maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotations, and replacing filters.Essential Job FunctionContribute to overall team effort by accomplishing related projects and offering assistance as needed.This position inspects, promotes and maintains adherence to food safety cleanliness in the handling of product, ingredients and finished goods using proper work procedures and compliance with Food Safety and QualityStandards as defined by the FDA, SQF, HACCP and GMP Programs.Responsible for completing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual preventative maintenance inspections in Intelex.Responsible for completing maintenance request in Intelex.Must have advanced mechanical aptitude.Advanced knowledge of power tools, ability to operate properly and safely.Knowledge of precision measuring tools.Independently complete assigned tasks as directed by Transportation Manager.Maintain a clean shop and/or assigned work area.Basic knowledge of MIG and ARC welding.Ensure the preventative maintenance schedule is being executed on all vehicles (forklifts, man-lifts, golf-carts, etc.).Responsible for keeping transportation equipment within DOT Specifications and regulations.Keeps an organized log of all forklift and transportation equipment repairs.Perform other job-related duties as required.Qualifications & Experience:High School Diploma or GED requiredVerbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal team members and external vendors or customers via email, telephone, 2-way radio, or handwritingComputer proficiency (MS Windows and Office)Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitudeAbility to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practicesArxada has world class offering in three distinct areas: Consumer Microbial Control (CMC) focuses on the threat posed by microorganisms to people, with products spanning the food and drink, professional hygiene, home and personal care, crop protection and wood protection areas.
