Field Service Technician

POSITION PURPOSE: The Field Service Technician is responsible for traveling to customer locations for installations, training, service, and troubleshooting Forpak equipment. When travel is not required for this role, this position will be responsible for assembling and wiring equipment to construct the equipment in-house. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES * Provide service and customer support during field visits. * Manage on-site installation, start-up support, repair, maintenance, and test tasks. * Diagnose errors and technical problems to determine proper solutions. * Document processes. * Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations & briefings. * Build positive relationships with customers. * Produce timely and detailed service reports. * Cooperate with the Forpak technical team and management to share information across the organization. * Follow all company's field procedures and protocols. * Operate rental vehicles in a safe manner. * Assemble mechanical equipment using current assembly prints and wire panels, motors, servos, valves, PLCs, and HMIs per the electrical schematics. * Perform equipment start up, troubleshooting, and functionality testing. * All other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school diploma, technical degree preferred, but not required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Understanding of mechanical assembly drawings, electrical schematics, electrical components and software, primarily Allen-Bradley RSLogix Studio 500 and FactoryTalk required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs - Outlook, Excel, and Word. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years field service experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 25 - 30 pounds. LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
