REACH Mission and Values The REACH Program of Evergreen Treatment Services works with individuals experiencing homelessness and behavioral health conditions to help them achieve stability and improved quality of life. The REACH mission is to foster community health and safety through outreach, relationship, healing interventions and systems advocacy for people who use drugs. REACH provides outreach-based-care coordination, multidisciplinary clinical services, and supports to access and maintain housing. All services are based in principles of harm reduction that offer respect and dignity to individuals moving through stages of change in their lives. REACH incorporates a racial equity lens that includes naming the impact and actively dismantling systems of oppression rooted in White Supremacy, while addressing the root causes perpetuating historical trauma and immense suffering in individuals' lives. Job Summary: * The Milieu Coordinator role is part of REACH's Integrated Care team that supports ETS' mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness. * The Milieu Coordinator position is responsible for welcoming clients into the REACH Milieu space and connecting them with the services/resources they are seeking. The function of this position is to ensure that clients are provided with a safe and therapeutic environment where they can access needed resources. This position will foster relationships and community building by providing patient-centered services from a harm reduction perspective utilizing motivational interviewing, therapeutic verbal de-escalation, and trauma-informed care approaches. * This role makes a critical difference at ETS by developing positive relationships with all ETS staff and collaborating with others to coordinate and deliver services effectively. The nature of this position is extremely independent, requiring creative thinking, excellent interpersonal relationships, and conflict-resolution skills. The central purpose of this position is to help create a welcoming community environment where clients feel a sense of respect and belonging and, in turn, access resources needed to improve their quality of life. * De-escalation skills and the ability to prevent conflicts by proactively intervening when people exhibit challenging behaviors associated with intoxication or other behavioral health conditions are required. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and regular multi-tasking as well as the ability to develop systems to maintain safety and the flow of clients in the milieu. * The position is full-time onsite, and the days and hours are M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. * The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $77,000. What you contribute to this role - Responsibilities: * Help ETS succeed in carrying out our mission through working together with other staff to transform systems of harm and inequity to create different approaches to improving community health and safety through addressing substance use and homelessness. * Assist with the organization-wide initiative to reimagine our interconnectedness within our community to overcome the aspects of our society and organizational culture shaped by white supremacy and settler colonialism. * Help create a safe and therapeutic environment by letting patients in the door and welcoming them to the ETS space. * Develop rapport and trusting relationships with clients through respectful, person-centered engagement practices. * Orient new clients to the space(s) and facilitates client flow in and out of the space while maintaining a hospitable and friendly demeanor. * Monitor clients' activities inside the drop-in space and to the extent of ETS property with the intent to address any potential safety risks or violations of program rules and regulations. * Submit incident reports or other relevant documentation when appropriate. * Monitor and report hazardous materials and conditions. * Demonstrate the highest level of integrity and maintains exceptional levels of confidentiality related to 42 CFR part II and HIPAA. * Take responsibility for Markham opening and closing procedures. * Conduct bathroom checks. * Assist with receiving and stocking supply shipments for the Belltown location. * Assist police, fire, EMS, and all other emergency service providers in the performance of their duties while responding to or on ETS property. * Respond to all facility alarm activations including security, duress, fire, and intrusion alarms. * Help implement systems to support clients in the milieu space with behavioral issues. * Help support large client events and activities. * Operate oversized RV-style vehicle(s) as needed. * Attend ETS team meetings and other required meetings. Note: New and/or different duties and responsibilities may be assigned to this job at any time. Requirements What you bring to this role - Qualifications: Education and/or Relevant and Lived Experience (if applicable): * High school diploma or equivalent required * Undergraduate degree highly desirable * Academic training in the social service highly desirable * A minimum of two years of experience in work related to social work or outreach programs required. Knowledge and Skills: * An understanding of racial justice and social equity and a commitment to helping create an equitable environment for all ETS clients and patients as well as fellow staff. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, patients, and staff from a wide variety of ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. * Experience providing services to addicted individuals from a harm reduction perspective preferred. * Experience with case management, homelessness, and co-occurring disorders is highly desirable. * Must be able to work the agreed-upon shifts. * Ability to prioritize workload and activities of self and staff, ability to supervise others, and follow through on assigned tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner. * Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between tasks quickly. * Dependable, able to work under pressure; receptive to change, willingness to learn, cooperative approach to problem-solving. * Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/ written communication skills. * Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload, work independently, and complete tasks timely and efficiently. * Dependable, able to work under pressure, receptive to change, willingness to learn, cooperative approach to problem solving. * Flexible team player, with excellent attention to detail. * Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when handling highly sensitive information. * Ability to set boundaries, resolve conflict and de-escalate issues. * Valid Driver's license and driving record acceptable to agency insurance required in order to operate agency-owned vehicles. * Computer literate, with basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (or equivalent suites such as Google Workspace), as well as a high level of initiative in keeping current with technological changes. Skills needed include basic functions such as utilizing MS Outlook email and calendaring programs (or equivalent) and sending attachments, using MS Teams or equivalent chat, call, and videoconference features, and navigating search engines such as Edge or Google and carrying out browser searches and website benchmarking steps. Additional Essential Information: Physical Conditions and Requirements: * The employee may be exposed to illicit drug residues and fumes or other bio-hazardous materials when carrying out job functions. There is also potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens. ETS will provide employees with appropriate training to limit the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. Policies and procedures are in place addressing each item specifically. * The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, and kneel; occasionally to climb balance, or stoop; rarely to crouch or crawl. * The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
