The Landscape and Grounds Supervisor ensures that the campus's outdoor environments are well-maintained, attractive, and safe. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Landscape and Grounds, this position ensures that campus grounds consistently meet high standards of care and aesthetics. Major Responsibilities: * Landscape and grounds maintenance, such as planting, mulching, trimming, and mowing * Snow removal and salting of roads and walkways * Landscape and grounds equipment maintenance and repairs: perform inspections and repairs to ensure vehicles and equipment are safe, clean, and working properly * Set up and tear-down of campus events and moves * Manage supplies and equipment inventory, ensuring restocking as necessary * Report maintenance and repair needs through the work order system * Plan, assign, track, and follow up on work orders for team members * Conduct staff meetings to keep the team informed and aligned * Identify staff training, coaching, and development needs * Assist with FM Fleet Vehicle Maintenance * Assist the Director of Landscape and Grounds in resolving complaints and problems effectively * Assist the Director of Landscape and Grounds with annual performance evaluations * Maintain a safe working environment by educating staff on the use of equipment and resources and ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. Coordination of seasonal activities * Communication with internal and external customers to ensure clarity and a commitment to quality service and continuous improvement. Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge and Skills: * 3-5 years of related experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance * Experience in landscape management is required * Supervisory experience preferred * Knowledge of landscape maintenance methods, materials, and equipment * Must be at least 18 years of age * Must have a valid driver's license and meet university driving requirements * Must be able to obtain an Indiana Applicator's License within 1-year of employment Other Qualifications: * Leadership * Lead by example and foster a positive work environment * Display a professional demeanor at all times * Ability to work as part of a team * Ability to maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment * Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and reviewing relevant publications * Effective oral and written communication skills * Keen attention to detail Physical Demands: * Ability to frequently lift, carry, and push/pull up to 50 pounds * Must be in good physical health; walking/standing, reaching, bending, kneeling, and repetitive motion about 95% of the time * Ability to operate landscape maintenance tools and equipment * Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and work with hands and arms overhead * Careful use of materials and equipment to avoid injury * Ability to work long hours performing labor intensive tasks Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to cultural diversity and the ability to work with individuals or groups from diverse backgrounds.
