Summary About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 88th Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity 56, located in Whitehall, Ohio. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Initiating assignments by identifying immediate tasks to be performed. Checking the progress of assignments for accuracy and compliance with supervisor's instructions. Providing information to supervisors in order to keep them abreast of current progress. Performing more complex repairs on heavy mobile equipment. Operating vehicles in order to check the work of subordinates. Performing repairs on various types of commercial, combat tactical automotive support equipment. Providing guidance and advice to workers involving the proper maintenance procedures. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer Leader without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: Passing on instructions, demonstrating work methods, working with others; follow established shop procedures, policies, and other directives. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Physical Effort: Work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Work is performed on top of, under, or in tight compartments of equipment in cramped and awkward positions. Work requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning part assemblies and equipment. Occasionally lifts heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Work is sometimes performed from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Worker must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time and is exposed to drafts, dirt, grease, oils, vehicle exhaust fumes and some inclement weather. Worker is subject to burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises and strains. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a Logistics Career Field position. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
