This position is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing existing and new equipment in an orderly and cost conscious manner. Perform building maintenance projects, as assigned. Work effectively, safely, and with a minimum amount of disruption to the production process in an automated food environment. Responsible to seek understanding of communications by clearly expressing facts and asking follow-up questions. Commitment to successful implementation of BSCI. Responsibilities: * Perform privative maintenance tasks to inspect, observe, lubricate, adjust, and analyze equipment operation for needed repair or replacement. Perform OSHA oven safety inspection as assigned. * Able to work from blueprints, diagrams, specifications, sketches, and verbal orders. He/she is responsible to install, transfer, move, set-up, operate, and test machines. Use standard mechanical tools, power tools, electrical controls, and measuring devices. * Maintain accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, and preventative maintenance reports. Prepare specific and accurate parts request forms. * Respond to maintenance and line stoppage calls and prepared to provide emergency request forms. * Follow company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and conditions for employee and other employees. Responsible for preventing loss or injury due to improper or unsafe operation of equipment. Responsible to follow lock out and tag out procedures, as well as specific duties dealing with confined spaces and hazardous material. * Recommend and collaborate with management personnel in decisions related to breakdown options. Recommend cost saving ideas to supervisor. * Provide technical assistance and information to other employees as needed. * Maintain a clean and safe work area within the maintenance shop at each work site where jobs are performed. * Perform duties in all areas within the maintenance department. * The above job description is not intended to be all inclusive but is to serve as a guideline for each job. Qualifications Qualifications: * Must be capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds of force frequently, 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. * Must be capable of moving up and down stairways and ladders to perform some job assignments. * Other physical requirements consist of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, bending, twisting, talking and hearing. * Must be able to read, write and speak as well as perform simple arithmetic. * Ability to work efficiently at a fast pace. * Maintain a high state of safety awareness: keep hands out of moving machinery, lift properly, and be alert to movement of materials or other people to give right of way as needed. * Work requires, in addition to the skills normally acquired through a general high school education, specialized or technically training which may be obtained in high school, commercial or shop courses or by brief (more than 6 months, but less than one year) of intensive preparation outside of school. * 12-18 months of experience is required in manufacturing maintenance work. * A relatively high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult human, technical, or administrative errors. * Independent judgment is often required. Some direct guidance is received from supervision and/or established procedures or instructions. The consequence of moderate errors is significant cost in time, money or public acceptance of product quality. * Depending on experience, level 1-4 Maintenance Technician's hourly pay ranges from $26.10 to $32.10.
