Iconic NYC restaurant is rapidly expanding and seeking Sous Chefs. The sous chef reports to the Executive Chef to follow and maintain all standards of kitchen operations and culinary production as set by the EC. Assume the responsibilities of the EC when they are not present. Responsibilities include assisting in the development and training of junior kitchen staff members, overseeing of the quality and control of kitchen production, communicating with station leads to prioritize culinary needs and streamline operations. Sous Chefs are responsible for the maintenance, organization and overall storage of culinary products and spaces; the recording of weekly inventories and assisting in the ordering process. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensuring food and service always exceeds company standards of excellence Assisting the Executive Chef and Culinary Director in ordering food products Assisting the Executive Chef in scheduling employees to ensure shifts have proper coverage Streamlining communication processes between multiple locations and to ensure success, such as Catering and Events Supporting revenue and costing initiatives by helping to track labor hours and cost of goods figures Enforcing food handling regulations and other guidelines to increase guest safety Setting the expectation for crew members in maximizing productivity, maintaining cleanliness and food quality while providing accurate and speedy service Making sure that all operational duties and tasks are completed in a timely manner Ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately Filling out daily transfer requisition forms so sufficient inventory is available Demonstrating leadership skills while working and setting the example to all other employees POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift 50lbs and work on one's feet for an extended period of time Experience in the hospitality industry with a background in food service Accountability for order accuracy and timeliness Flexibility of schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects at once Strong communication skills working in a team environment NYC DOH food handler's permit card
