Notes to Applicants Position Overview: The Inventory Control Specialist lll will act as a team lead and collaborate with the Inventory Supervisor l in an effort to ensure supply operation objectives are regularly met. The person in this role will also act as a liaison between the Supply team and various customers within EMS. The Inventory Control Specialist lll will also be responsible for end-to-end management of capital and non-capital assets, life-cycles, asset tag program, fixed asset program, maintenance and preventative maintenance inspections, physical inventory, retirement, and final disposition. The Inventory Control Specialist lll ensures care, protection and maintenance of assigned facilities, vehicles, computer systems, printers, radios, pagers, furnishings, inventory and assets. This position requires occasional overtime based on business needs and is placed on-call status in order to respond to city or department emergencies. About EMS: The Emergency Medical Services department is responsible for managing critical time-sensitive life-threatening emergencies. While most of the assistance EMS gives to the community is medical in nature, everything we do is about service: service to our patients, their families and loved ones; service to our community; and service to the people who make up Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services. Job Close Date 10/30/2024 Type of Posting Reserved for City Employees Department Emergency Medical Services Regular/Temporary Regular Grant Funded or Pooled Position Not Applicable Category Technical Location 4201 Ed Bluestein Blvd Preferred Qualifications Preferred Experience: * Experience with medical shelf-life items and identifying lot numbers to be removed from inventory during periodic cycle counts / inventories. * Experience with information technology inventory systems such as Operative IQ, or any other similar information technology inventory systems. * Experience operating equipment and vehicles such as forklift, pallet jack and 24 foot box truck, with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs * Ability to work overtime, be placed in on-call status and respond to declared city or department emergencies. Duties, Functions and Responsibilities Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned. * Plans inventory layouts and/or warehouse operations and coordinates activities of workers. * Ensures accuracy and condition of inventoried assets, items shipped, received, or issued and recommends operational improvements * Enters, retrieves and/or reviews data recorded in tracking system, creates and analyzes reports and recommends operational improvements. * Establishes procedures by consulting with workers, managers and suppliers to ensure the procedures are maintained and compliant with overall objectives of the department. * Manages inventory by performing physical counts, identifying variances and reconciling records. * Completes purchase requests by verifying inventory and specifications of purchase requests; preparing stock and equipment requisitions, inputting purchase orders, quotes and service requests, expediting deliveries and assisting with invoice processing. * Ensures maintenance of adequate inventory by researching and resolving discrepancies, recommending actions to manage inventory levels, disbursement and disposition of inventory. * Manages safety by maintaining compliance with safety guidelines, reporting discrepancies, and recommending corrective action to ensure safety in the warehouse. * Supports inventory and/or warehouse operations by recommending inventory layout, providing on-the-job training, troubleshooting issues at various phases of the receiving and shipping cycle, and serves as liaison among purchasing, vendors and other staff members to resolve operational issues.
