Truck Driver D Job ID: 240562 Location: MD - Branch Ave PLNT Facil Full/Part Time: Full-Time Posting Open-Close 10/08/2024 - 10/19/2024 Union 689 Regular/Temporary: Regular **Job Description** **ORDER OF PREFERENCE: The selection for Maintenance and Construction is made on the basis of fitness and ability with preference given to: Maintenance and Construction District, System-Wide (L689), Authority-Wide and external candidates, respectively.** **Minimum Qualifications** **Education** High School diploma or possession of a general equivalency diploma (GED) **Experience** **_Twelve (12) months following the achievement of a particular grade level (i.e. Grades D, C, B, A and AA), an incumbent may be advanced to the next grade level provided he/she has taken and passed any required written or practical tests, acquired any required certifications and has met acceptable fitness for duty, work record and job performance requirements._** + **Truck Driver D** + A minimum of two (2) years of truck driver experience **Certification/Licensure** + Possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) class B or higher with appropriate endorsements from jurisdiction of residence allowing the operation of vehicles over 26,001 lbs. gross vehicle weight **Preferred** + N/A **Medical Group** Satisfactorily complete the medical examination for this position, if required. Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events. **Summary** Truck Drivers are responsible for the safe operation of the Authority¿s non-revenue vehicles and equipment, including special vehicles such as tandem axle dump, truck tractor with low bed semi-trailer, tank trucks, water haulers and related trucks with hydraulic crane booms. This role performs tasks related to loading, transporting, and unloading materials and equipment. **_Job Levels_** _: At each successive grade level of this job (i.e. Grades D, C, B, A and AA), the incumbent is expected to demonstrate increased, distinguishing levels of proficiency and efficiency in knowledge, skills and abilities when performing the assigned duties and essential functions described in this job description_ **Essential Functions** + Operates, in compliance with established procedures and guidelines, non-revenue vehicles to transfer, pick up, and deliver materials and equipment. Lays out work assignments, determines methods, techniques and materials needed to effectively accomplish assignments. + Checks load and clearance restrictions on roads to be used and plans most satisfactory route. Loads and unloads vehicle in a manner that ensures the safe transport of equipment and materials. + Operates equipment in support of repair work and other maintenance related tasks, including special vehicles such as tandem axle dump with auxiliary equipment such as snow plows and salt spreaders, truck tractor with low bed semi-trailer, tank trucks, water haulers, sweeper, small dump and related trucks with hydraulic crane booms, special attachments and equipment on all assigned vehicles. + Backs vehicles into and properly connects to trailer or semi-trailer air brake systems, operates vehicles in close quarters and backs trailer into loading docks or other close areas. Uses cables, chains and slings, in the rigging of large and heavy loads for lifting, in accordance with applicable code and safety standards. + Operates the crane boom in congested areas making rapid lift capacity judgments as boom length, angles and changes position in a safe manner, and responds to and assists in emergencies or incidents such as snow removal to safely support repair work and other maintenance related activities. + Inspects vehicles for routine safety issues, performs preventive maintenance inspection on assigned vehicles in checking and adding fuel, oil water, and grease, and promptly notifies supervisor of malfunctions. + Performs minor operator maintenance on vehicles such as lubrication, adjustments, tire changes, and maintains vehicle records and maintenance logs to ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained and safe to operate. **Other Functions** + Performs all tasks and assignments within the established safety practices and maintenance guidelines. Attends training classes and assists in training co-workers to ensure safety rules and updated standards are continuously learned for operating and handling vehicles in the performance of tasks. + Performs any other related tasks in support of assigned department. **The essential duties listed are not intended to limit specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
