We are seeking a talented pastry sous chef to lead our team of professional sweet makers for both L'Amico, f eaturing an American menu with Italian influences, honoring the food of both Executive Chef Laurent Tourondel's past and present and Second, our client-adored event space, which can host hundreds of guests at a time for intimate or extravagant dinner parties and receptions. Both located within the Hotel Eventi on 6th Avenue and 30th St. Job Overview: The Pastry Sous Chef is responsible for overseeing the operations of the pastry team in the kitchen operations while the Pastry Chef is off, as well as always upholding the quality of the pastry program and restaurant standards. The Pastry Sous Chef works in cooperation with Pastry Chef and Management to ensure efficient restaurant operations amongst our outlets. What you'll do: Scale-out ingredients and prepare desserts according to recipes Ensure timely delivery of menu items on order Ensure proper presentation of menu items Help innovate menu items alongside of the Pastry Chef Maintain a clean and organized work area Communicate effectively with fellow cooks to ensure consistent food delivery Assist with additional tasks as needed or required by the Executive Chef, including formatting recipes and labor/food control What we can offer you: Paid Time Off, according to NYC's Safe and Sick Leave requirements Pre-Tax Transit Discounts Medical, Dental and Vision benefits Employee Dining Discount Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Who you are: A passion for restaurants and food Experience in pastry A flexible schedule including weekends and holidays Strong communication skills Solid work ethic Comfort in high volume environments The ability to carry more than 20+ lbs.
