Dickson's Farmstand is a purveyor of a unique selection of artisanal meat and meat products. Our beef, lamb, pork, goat and poultry are sourced from local farms, hand-picked because of their commitment to producing natural, humanely-raised, high-quality and distinctive meat. Interns work side by side with our experienced butchers learning the ins and outs of the cutting room and the meat carcass. This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn about whole animal butchery as well as the farm to retail supply chain. NOTE - this program is NOT designed to turn you into a 'butcher' - BUT we can start you on your meat journey. The internship is a great place to start for anyone interested in getting into the meat industry or looking to deepen their knowledge of meat. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assisting in all cutting room activities Sorting, packing, and labeling beef, lamb, pork and goat according to cut and primal Organizing and maintaining the meat inventory Grinding beef, pork, lamb Basic Butchery Advanced Butchery and Whole Animal Breaking (based on skill level) Other Info : This is an unpaid educational program.
