Position Overview As the first point of contact for our guests, the Host plays a key part in setting the tone for the entire dining experience. You're responsible, social, and level-headed under pressure. You may even consider yourself a bit of a perfectionist! You engage warmly and confidently with guests, guiding them from start to finish, ensuring everyone feels valued and heard. During high-volume service, you execute with efficiency and grace, always keeping an eye on timing and presentation, and don't have an issue jumping in where needed to relieve pressure. As a Host, you ensure seamless communication between both front and back-of-house, help maintain efficient operations, and build relationships with our valued guests. Current Available Shifts Pro Shop Pizza Co. is currently looking to fill Part-Time Host positions. Candidates should have Thursday to Sunday evening availability and/or Saturday and Sunday daytime availability. Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with both back and front-of-house coworkers to ensure seamless service and efficient operations Actively participate in front-of-house training programs; consistently meet training expectations Exhibit excellent phone etiquette and ability to manage multiple incoming calls Manage reservation system, ensuring smooth seating arrangements and tracking waitlisted guests/walk-ins; collect guest contact information in company database Anticipate guest needs and exceed expectations Coordinate the dining room and bar floor plan; assign server sections; optimize flow of service and minimize wait times Answer phones and emails; handle all guest inquiries, including confirming reservations and responding to or forwarding voicemail and email messages Efficiently process carry-out and delivery orders, ensuring order accuracy and timely pickup/delivery Assist in preparing the restaurant for service, such as stocking clean plates, polishing silverware, and filling water carafes, condiments, napkin and straw caddies, etc. Support both front and back-of-house teams; assist in running food, clearing tables, stocking clean flatware and paper goods, washing glassware, dropping to-go containers, etc. Print and/or photocopy guest notes, daily shift updates, and various other communications and distribute them to appropriate parties as needed Act as a liaison between the guest and restaurant staff, communicating any special requests or needs Develop strong, ongoing relationships with regular guests to foster loyalty and personalized service Uphold company standards, ensuring that all guests receive genuine hospitality from the moment they walk in Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all food and beverage menu items, ingredients, and preparation processes Handle customer payments and operate a point-of-sale system accurately; count and reconcile cash and credit card transactions Assist in maintaining a clean and organized restaurant at all times, ensuring all equipment and supplies are properly stored and sanitized; follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines Conduct all required opening, side work, and closing duties as outlined Requirements Qualified candidates must possess the following characteristics and experience: Must be at least 16 years of age Possess ANSI-accredited food safety and sanitation certificate Excellent communication skills and professional appearance Basic knowledge of Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail) At least 1 year experience in a full-service restaurant, with a background in reservation management systems and handling carry-out orders General understanding of common restaurant electronics, such as iPads, POS terminals, credit card chip readers, printers, computers, multi-line telephones, etc. Must have regular access to email and utilize the internet (or phone app) for scheduling, payroll, and internal communication Ability to handle high-volume service while maintaining attention to detail Very organized and detail-oriented Ability to safely tolerate hands being exposed to liquids frequently, including water, cleaning solutions, various juices, and other liquid Demonstrate basic math competency and a general understanding of cash accounting Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays Stand and walk for extended periods; safely lift and move roughly 35 lbs.; move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven, or slick surfaces Maintain composure in crowded or confined spaces with varying noise and temperature levels; excellent emotional control Preferred Skills Passion for wholesome foods made with nutrient-dense ingredients Prior work experience in modern, upscale, or fine dining venues Strong background in guest relations with a sense of luxury hospitality Compensation This role pays $16.20-$18 per hour (depending on experience), with the potential for tips when assisting with carry-out orders or other guest relations. Occasionally, depending on the daily schedule and specific duties of each shift, this role may also include tipouts from servers and bartenders. Work Environment/Physical Demands Summary This job operates in a fast-paced restaurant environment and may require the employee to stand for long periods of time. There is regular exposure to food allergens, high-temperature cooking equipment, chemical cleaning products, and pest/insect control substances. The employee must also safely and properly use and store provided cleaning supplies each shift. The employee must also be comfortable operating a high-temperature commercial dishwashing machine. It is the employee's responsibility to maintain proper personal hygiene at all times, wear food protection gloves and hairnets, and consistently and efficiently wash hands to prevent contamination of foods and food contact surfaces. The role requires the employee to regularly use various kitchen tools and equipment, including those that are sharp and/or heavy. The employee must be able to operate, maintain, and appropriately clean a kegerator, coolers, blenders, dishwasher, and other commercial kitchen and restaurant machinery, including any accompanying parts. Additionally, the employee must be able to safely and properly sanitize kitchen knives and other sharp and/or heavy food and drink preparation instruments when necessary. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of a restaurant with an open seating floor plan. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday as business needs arise. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and the employee will need to be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs. The employee must also have the ability to safely tolerate their hands being exposed to liquids frequently, including water, cleaning solutions, alcohol, various juices, and other liquids .
