Location: Montclair, NJ Salary: $140,000 - $200,000 per year Start Date: ASAP The Opportunity We are seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial Executive Chef to lead the culinary team and contribute to the strategic growth of an iconic restaurant in Montclair. What You Will Do Culinary Leadership: Oversee all kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards in menu development, food preparation, and presentation. Innovation: Create innovative and seasonally inspired menus that honor the restaurant's heritage while embracing contemporary culinary trends. Team Development: Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Operational Excellence: Implement efficient kitchen processes, manage inventory, and maintain compliance with health and safety regulations. Financial Management: Collaborate with ownership to manage food costs, budgeting, and financial planning to optimize profitability. Strategic Partnership: Work closely with ownership and management to shape the restaurant's strategic direction and future growth initiatives. Community Engagement: Act as a brand ambassador, building relationships within the local community and enhancing the restaurant's reputation. What You Need Minimum of 10 years in progressive culinary roles, including at least 5 years as an Executive Chef in high-volume, upscale dining establishments. A proven culinary leader that leads by example and is hands-on in the kitchen. Strong understanding of restaurant operations, financial management, and cost control. Exceptional culinary skills with a passion for innovation and quality. Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
