Job Summary: The Dishwasher plays a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. This position is responsible for cleaning dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, as well as keeping workstations and the kitchen environment sanitary. Dishwashers help ensure that the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently during busy shifts. Key Responsibilities: Dishwashing: Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using an industrial dishwasher or by hand. Organize cleaned items in the appropriate areas, such as dish racks or storage areas. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Ensure that all workstations, sinks, floors, and surfaces are kept clean and sanitized throughout the shift. Follow health and safety regulations in the kitchen, maintaining food-safe practices. Waste Management: Empty garbage bins and dispose of waste appropriately. Assist with recycling procedures and general cleanliness of the back-of-house area. Assisting Kitchen Staff: Help with basic food prep or kitchen tasks as directed by the chef or kitchen manager, such as peeling vegetables or carrying supplies. Assist in stocking supplies and ensuring the kitchen is well-organized. Equipment Maintenance: Report any malfunctioning equipment or safety hazards to the supervisor. Perform light maintenance tasks, such as cleaning dishwashers, drains, or kitchen floors as needed. End-of-Shift Duties: Ensure all dishes and utensils are clean and properly stored at the end of each shift. Clean and sanitize kitchen areas and assist in closing down the kitchen. Qualifications: Previous experience in a kitchen or similar role is preferred but not required. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs). Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations. Working Conditions: Fast-paced, often noisy environment. Regularly required to stand, bend, and reach. Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) · A high school diploma or equivalent preferred · Must be 21 years of age · Prior experience in related food service positions required · Moderate reading and writing skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; cooperates and works together with all co- workers; plan and complete job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment · Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less · Manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. Employee is regularly exposed to kitchen equipment (e.g., oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer, and chef's knives).
