THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION POSTING DATE: 08/15/2024 CLOSING DATE: 11/15/2024 AT 12:00AM MIDNIGHT SALARY RANGE: $49,581.00 - $56,618.00 USD Annually CLASS DESCRIPTION The mechanic is recognized as skilled and knowledgeable in the maintenance of facility systems and performs required services and maintenance to the building. This position is a non-supervisory position and works under the supervision of the building services supervisor. The incumbent must be able to work a flexible work schedule including days, evenings, nights weekends and holidays. This position is considered essential, Baltimore Convention Center. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Operates a variety of hand tools, power tools, machine shop equipment, aerial lifts, and forklifts. * Performs preventative maintenance work in accordance with established procedures including daily inspection of buildings HVAC systems, mechanical/electrical systems and sprinkler systems. * Fills out daily reports on activities, maintenance, and service reports forms. * Notifies appropriate supervisory personnel in the event of problems. * May be required to perform some related masonry, carpentry, painting or electrical work. * Assists in snow removal. * Performs other related work required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION - High School Diploma or GED Certificate. AND EXPERIENCE - Two years' experience in the facility maintenance; thorough knowledge of hand and power tools; electrical and maintenance; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; and the ability to complete basic maintenance and service reports and forms. OR NOTES(EQUIVALECIES) - Have an equivalent combination of education and experience. Commensurate experience will be considered in lieu of high school diploma. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES * Knowledge of the accepted practices, processes, materials, and tools of the maintenance trades. * Knowledge of the servicing and maintenance of simple power, heating, and cooling units. * Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building maintenance trades. * Ability to read and comprehend job related written materials; this also includes the ability to locate, read and comprehend text materials such as handbooks, manuals, bulletins, directives, checklists and routine sheets. * Ability to do routine mechanical or electrical maintenance and care for tools and equipment. * Working knowledge of hand and power tools. * Ability to work from sketches, drawings, and blueprints. * Ability to maintain records regarding material, equipment, and repairs. * Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
