A food runner assists server by delivering food and drinks to customers' tables. They also help with cleanup and other tasks to ensure the restaurant runs smoothly. Here are some responsibilities of a food runner: Deliver food: Carry food from the kitchen to tables, and ensure it's delivered quickly and accurately Communicate: Communicate with waitstaff to understand their needs, and relay special requests to the kitchen Maintain cleanliness: Keep the expo line clean, and wash trays and tray stands Organize: Organize order tickets and track cooking times Check on customers: Make sure customers are enjoying their meals, and address any issues or requests Help with setup: Set tables, and ensure tableware, napkins, glasses, and utensils are placed appropriately Explain food: Explain specials, drinks, and meals to customers, and make recommendations Follow guidelines: Follow sanitation and food health safety rules and regulations Be flexible: Be flexible to schedule changes Food runners need to be able to multitask, work well in a fast-paced environment, and remain calm and professional. They should also be physically able to carry heavy trays and stand for long hours.
