Kampar is a forthcoming Restaurant and Bar from of James Beard Award nominated Chef Ange Branca. We are opened in March 2024 in a new location in the Bella Vista neighborhood of Philadelphia. Kampar is a combined concept that incorporates a high volume, fine casual dining restaurant centered on Malaysian cooking and a nightly Prix Fixe menu dedicated to providing a platform for chefs who cook underrepresented cuisines. We are currently looking for a lead line cook to join Kampar's central kitchen team. This is a growth position, with opportunity for development within the company and the restaurant industry as a whole. As part of Kampar's central kitchen team, the lead line cook will be responsible for leading the team of line cooks who will be executing the casual fine dining component of our concept, which draws inspiration from Malaysian street food culture. Applicants should have a minimum of 3 year of experience working as a line cook. Lead line cook responsibilities include: setting an example for and mentoring a team of less experienced line cooks working an average of 5 nights/week totaling around 40 hours/week ensuring that the line cooks are properly set up for service and that the line is properly broken down after service maintaining cleanliness standards on the line before, during, and after service checking in with the line cook team about prep and inventory levels going into service each night and communicating with management when a possible problem is foreseen ensuring that the line cooks are properly recording their station's inventory after service having a basic understanding of how the kitchen equipment on the line works and when there are indications that it needs to be serviced advising management on how to best optimize service from the perspective of someone who is working the line each day- this includes a paid monthly check-in meeting We are in search of individuals who: find value in viewing food from a global, rather than strictly western, perspective are interested in diversifying their culinary skill sets (this includes learning to work a traditional Chinese wok range) are prepared to lead by example believe in maintaining a respectful and collaborative workplace for all employees are detail oriented, clean, and proactive in their approach we are looking for good leadership skills and a willingness to develop and grow within our organization Compensation begins at $18/hour + tip share (combined pay+tip ranges from $25-30/hour); Kampar operates as a One Fair Wage restaurant.
