The County of Yolo Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is recruiting to fill one (1) full-time, regular position in the class of Guardian Technician. This position will be located within the Health and Human Services Agency Public Guardian Program, and duties will be those pertaining to the Public Guardian Program and not the Sheriff's Department Public Administrator Program. Guardian Technician with the HHSA Public Guardian Program supports Conservatorship Officers in their duties such as transporting conservatees, gathering records, researching housing options, maintenance of conservatee benefits, communicating in writing and verbally with other agencies, businesses, facilities, and medical professionals, and performs routine record keeping. A Guardian Technician is responsible for inventorying, recording, and tracking conservatee property, moves and stores property, arranges purchase and disposition of property, and conducts searches of conservatee residences for the purpose of inventory and protecting assets. The ideal Guardian Technician candidate has experience with tracking inventory, and has excellent skills in organization, balancing multiple deadlines, clear and concise written and verbal communication, good time management, and working as part of a team as well as independently. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with people with severe mental illnesses and/or cognitive impairments as well as experience with detailed record keeping and documentation. The ideal candidate is compassionate and desires to help others and is comfortable working in both an office environment as well in in the field with direct conservatee contact and in locations that may be cluttered and dirty. DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs specialized technical and administrative duties in support of property management and administrative functions involved in the maintenance of Public Guardian cases. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a paraprofessional class allocated only to the Office of the Public Guardian/Administrator. The incumbent in this classification is expected to work independently and is responsible for performing routine record keeping, maintenance of benefits, transportation, client support and property-related functions associated with the maintenance of cases. This class differs from the higher class of Conservatorship Officer, the professional class in the series, which maintains a caseload, and is responsible for investigating the medical, psychological, financial and social backgrounds of individuals referred for conservatorship to determine and recommend to the court on the appropriateness of conservatorship.Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: * Assists with investigating Public Administrator referrals, including indigent burials. * Receives personal effects and property on behalf of Public Administrator referrals; inspects, inventories, and documents received items; and maintains applicable records. * Corresponds with state and local agencies regarding Public Administrator/Guardian cases. * Arranges the purchase, acquisition, and distribution of property for Public Administrator, Conservatorship, and Guardian cases. * Assists Conservatorship/Guardian Officers in routine and/or detailed support tasks involving client placement. * Transports clients to a variety of appointments. * Performs other related duties as assigned. Education: Completion of 60 college semester units OR Experience: Two years of experience in record keeping, property management, or other comparable experience in a social service agency or in private industry OR one year of employment in a Public Guardian or Public Administrator Office. License: Some positions in this classification may require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties.
