Pay This position is a Non-Exempt position at pay grade 104. Attendance 40-hour work week, Monday - Sunday; must be available to work additional hours as needed. Who May Apply All persons legally authorized to work in the United States Overview The Parks Technician I is responsible for maintaining and mowing the City of Corpus Christi's developed parkland, facilities, right of ways, and beaches. Responsibilities * Tasks will include litter and debris clean up, painting, planting, pruning, graffiti removal, public restroom maintenance, and special event set up * Operation of outdoor power equipment and power tools * Assist with irrigation repairs, maintenance of water features and maintenance of playground equipment * Requires operation of pickup trucks with trailers, motor vehicles and utility vehicles * Must complete daily work reports verifying time, equipment and material use * May be asked to perform other duties as assigned Qualifications * Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience * Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds to move and deliver work material * Must be able to walk for long periods and distances * Must be able to work safely outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions * Must be able to work around plant material such as trees, shrubs, bushes and grass * Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb to perform various maintenance functions * A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Other Information: Benefits The City offers an excellent benefit package that includes: * Texas Municipal Retirement System - TMRS is a required retirement plan for all full-time employees.
