POSTING DETAILS Substitute Licensed Practical Nurse - #240709007 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Schedule: Variable/On Call Supervisor: School Nurse Pay: $30.26 per hour Closing Date: December 27th 2024 QUALIFICATIONS: 1. An Associate's Degree in Nursing (LPN) is required. 2. Valid Licensed Practical Nurse license for State of Washington. 3. Awareness of Washington State student Hearing and Vision screening requirements. 4. Awareness of Washington State School Immunizations laws. 5. Awareness of Washington State laws that pertain to school medication administration and other delegated nursing tasks in the school setting. 6. School nursing or public health experience desirable. 7. Able to drive a car and work in several different work locations. 8. Able to keep and maintain essential health records. 9. Applicant must be able to work with students, staff, parents and community patrons in an amiable and productive manner. 10. Working knowledge of current state and federal laws pertaining to education of students with special needs. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Must be able to safely perform tasks required in the school setting such as administration of medication, tube feedings, catheterizations and other necessary delegated nursing tasks ( according to Washington State Law and school district policy). 2. Perform student screenings for vision and hearing. 3. Assist school staff to assure that every student is in compliance with the Washington State School Immunization laws and assure appropriate exclusions from and re-entry into school. 4. Provide guidance for and occasionally write Individualized Education 504 Medical Plans. 5. Provide care to students and staff who have been injured or who present with acute illnesses. 6. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for students with life-threatening and/or chronic health conditions. Develop Individual or Emergency Care Plans according to student needs. 7. Provide support for health education by providing health information and or guidance about the health education curriculum, encouraging comprehensive sequential, and age appropriate information. 8. Assist in the development and evaluation of school health policies. 9. Follow district and state policies and protocols on reportable health conditions to the local and state health departments. 10. Serve as liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers. 11. Communicate essential parenting skills to families. 12. Perform health care procedures that are within the scope of nursing practice and are ordered by an appropriately licensed health care provider. 13. Assist faculty and staff in monitoring chronic health conditions. 14. Maintain strict confidentiality of student health concerns. 15. Maintain a record of punctuality, dependability, and consistent attendance.
