SUMMARY: Responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing existing and new equipment in an orderly and cost conscious manner. Performs building maintenance projects as assigned. Works efficiently, safely and with a minimum amount of disruption to the production process. Responsible for seeking an understanding of communication by clearly expressing facts and asking follow up questions. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENT * WORK SCHEDULE: * Attends regularly and on time to an assigned job with a five (5) day work schedule including weekends and split days off. Shifts are for eight ( 8) hours or more. * ESSENTIAL TASKS: * Performs preventive maintenance tasks as assigned and outlined in exhibit A as well as the assigned OSHA oven safety inspection. * Working from blue prints, specifications, sketches and verbal orders, is responsible for installing, transferring, moving, setting up, operating and testing machines, tools, electrical controls and measuring devices. Makes minor decisions in accomplishing assigned work. Possesses ability to use a variety of maintenance hand and power tools. Possesses training and requisite knowledge regarding basic refrigeration, air conditioning and hydraulics. * Possess training in, and a thorough working knowledge of industrial, electrical and electronic controls, including hard-wired and solid state systems, programmable controllers and related components. * Uses and interprets data obtained from electrical and electronic instruments and testing devices. * Able to troubleshoot, correct and/or reprogram programmable controllers and documents actions taken. * Maintains accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls and preventive maintenance reports. Prepares specific and accurate parts request forms. * Responds to maintenance and line stoppage calls prepared to provide emergency repairs efficiently and quickly. Moves material as required. * Follows company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and conditions for employee and fellow employees. Responsible for preventing loss or injury due to improper or unsafe operation of equipment. Responsible for following lock-out/tag-out procedures as well as specific procedures dealing with confined spaces and hazardous materials. * Recommends and collaborates with management personnel in decisions related to breakdown options. Recommends cost savings improvements to Supervisor. * Provides technical assistance and information to fellow employees as needed. * Maintains a clean and safe work area within the Maintenance Shop and at each work site where jobs are performed. * Displays initiative in recognizing work to be done, as well as judgment and ingenuity in troubleshooting an setting machines. * Performs duties in all areas within the Maintenance Department. #lbmaintenance Qualifications PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: * Must be capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. * Mental and visual ability to identify various parts and read mechanical and electrical drawings, instructions, gauges, micrometers, etc. Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. * Capable of moving up and down building stairways in a multi-level plant to reach job assignments and perform the tasks required. Tasks require working from a ladder or elevated platform and in confined spaces such as ovens, proof box and bulk storage bins or tanks. Physical activities required are climbing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, twisting, bending, talking and hearing. * Capable of understanding complex instructions and reading equipment manuals, blue prints, measuring instruments, notices and work schedules as posted on the bulletin board. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Preparation and Training Work requires, in addition to the skills usually acquired through a general high school education, specialized or technical training, which may be obtained in high school commercial shop courses or by a brief (more than six months but less than one year) course of intensive preparation outside of school. Work Experience 1-3 years of proven experience is required in plant maintenance mechanical work. Analytical Ability A relatively high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult human, technical or administrative problems. Independent Judgment And Consequence of Errors Independent judgment is often required. Some direct guidance is received from Supervisor and/or from established procedures or instructions. Errors would result in significant cost in time, money, product quality and equipment damage. Contact With Others Frequent internal contacts with operators, other mechanics and supervision. Occasional contact with outsiders such as contracted services and spare parts representatives. #lbmaintenance
