About Us : At Passerine, we are excited to bring a high-level Indian dining experience to NYC. Opening at the end of October, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional food and service, inspired by the Michelin-starred vision of our talented Chef Chetan, who earned accolades in DC last year. Our goal is to create a memorable dining experience that reflects the rich flavors and traditions of Indian cuisine while aiming for a Michelin star in our new home. Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and talented server/ sommelier. This role is ideal for a junior sommelier who would like to learn the craft. This will be a full time position with two shifts as an hourly sommelier and 2-3 shifts as a server. As a server and sommelier, you will play a crucial role in creating an inviting atmosphere for our guests and ensuring they enjoy a seamless dining experience. Key Responsibilities for both roles: Provide knowledgeable recommendations to guests, including food pairings and explanations of wine characteristics. Collaborate with the General Manager and kitchen staff to ensure seamless service and exceptional guest experiences. Maintain the wine inventory, ensuring proper storage and organization. Conduct wine tastings and training sessions for staff to enhance their wine knowledge and service skills. Provide outstanding service to all guests, ensuring their dining experience is memorable. Knowledgeably present the menu, including food and beverage pairings, while highlighting the unique aspects of our cuisine. Take and manage orders accurately and efficiently. Collaborate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure timely and accurate service. Maintain a clean and organized dining area, adhering to health and safety regulations. Handle guest inquiries, feedback, and special requests with professionalism and care. Uphold the restaurant's high standards of service and contribute to a positive team environment. Qualifications: Previous experience in a fine dining or upscale restaurant is preferred. Strong knowledge of food and beverage, with a particular interest in Indian cuisine. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A passion for hospitality and a commitment to providing exceptional service. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
