It does this by maintaining floors and bathrooms, disposing of trash, and completing electrical and plumbing work requests. Other duties may include providing assistance to various departments, assembling furniture, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees. The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties. * Maintains the interior of facilities by repairing floors, bathroom fixtures, water fountains, pumps, doors and hardware, painting, and other general maintenance activities. * Completes electrical work requests by replacing lights, ballasts, light switches and electric plugs, making extension cords, installing security cameras and systems and performing preventative maintenance of electrical systems. * Completes plumbing work requests by replacing flush valve kits, bowl wax and faucets, unclogging drains and commodes and performing preventative maintenance on plumbing systems. * Provides assistance to various departments by delivering furniture and supplies, assembling furniture and work stations, installing electrical and computer lines in workstations, setting up for meetings and events and picking up and delivering mail. * Completes basic HVAC repairs/pump repair by installing filters, cleaning condensers, troubleshooting equipment, performing preventative maintenance on HVAC systems. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of facility maintenance or related experience, or equivalent. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered. Special Requirements: * Must possess a valid Texas Class C driver's license. * THIS POSTING MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME ONCE A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED. Knowledge of: * City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures with particular attention to codes and ordinances. * Advanced commercial HVAC, Water distribution, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems and applicable code requirements. * Basic mechanical and tool usage. * Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. Skill in: * Establishing and maintaining working relationships with professional and support staff, vendors, the public, and City employees. * Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands. * Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering, and technical drawings, plans, and specifications. * Providing outstanding customer service and conflict resolution. * Reading and understanding City, State and Federal rules and regulations. * Working effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities. * Effectively communicating in both oral and written format. Physical Demands / Work Environment: * Standard office buildings, shop, warehouse, and recreation center. * Ability to sit or stand for long periods. * Ability to attend meetings outside of regular business hours. * Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. * Ability to work in hazardous conditions including mechanical, chemical, electrical, fire, and respiratory. * Ability to use hand and power tools. * Ability to push, pull, reach, lift, carry, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and climb. * Ability to operate city or personal vehicle for business purposes.
